Then take a look at what I heard in October:
Anticipated dungeon crawler Torchlight 2 has a minor update to its launch window, with Runic telling RunicGamesFanSite.com that the title is expected to launch during November or December ... unless "someone on the team dies."
So, one of them died? :o

No, Skyrim came out.
I think they were suprised by the overwhelming popularity of the current ES title, and they thought ( rightly so ) that it would negatively affect their sales regarless of their own game's quality. I think it's a good move, they should wait to a time when no other major RPG is released.
This is going to be a hard thing to do..With a new ip out in jan called kingdom of alamur, mass effect 3 around the bend..What time do they have next sept, oct??Diablo 3 will also be out next year..So that window with no major rpg coming out will close..Also bioshock infinite, Aliens do out next year as well..We still have small titles that will get announced..Next year will be a big year for games as well..Where is this window you speak of..
No doubt, it's very hard for small studios to go against these giants, but they're going to have to do their best.
Kingdoms of Amalur (February 10 release?) is not that much of a threat so far (at least hype-wise), even though it's got the lead designer of Elder Scrolls 3 and 4 behind it, along with R.A Salvatore's writing. Mass Effect 3 should be released sometime in March, so I'd go for a January release fingers crossed.
