Dunno which is more farcical, Vince McMahon claiming that WWE is "PG" or seeing articles on a video gaming site for things that have nothing to do with video games.
I'm not sure how anyone will be "relieved" that the next Dragon Age game will contain microtransactions, mandatory online modes if not having the entirety of the game require an online connection at all times, "games as a (dis)service," and all the other things that are synonymous with "live element's" in their owner's lEAxicon.
Then again they are owned by a company that thinks that pay2win slot machine microtransactions are something that gamers are slavering over and will slavishly dole out hundreds of dollars on, even if the game's only worth $30 on its own merits. As such I can kind of see why Hudson would think that people would be relieved that EA's preparing to bend to see how far they can bend their customers over before they cry out, "Please sir, may I download more lube?"
Eh, I'll save my pointless outrage for when someone uses "creative liberty" to misrepresent a game as having multi-monitor co-op support. I've been waiting for a multiplayer game with local co-op to ship with the ability to display different players' views on different monitors for years now.
@Zorlac: No, I understand the profit rather well. I just think it's amusing that so many industry giants keep over-spending on development, production, and advertising only to have their sales be "below expectations" and not be "a financial success" despite raking in more money, in absolute terms, than the populations of many a small town will see in half a century.
Think what you will though. I still say that it's a bEAutiful day in the neighborhood.
@jenovaschilld: Chests, cabinets, graves, pots, boxes, crates, barrels, coffins, corpses, vases, prostitutes, containers, hampers, urns, sarcophagi, and all of them full of loot. Yes, loot boxes.
On the one hand it's good to hear that there won't be microtransactions. On the other hand I have to wonder what sort of RPG will work well without loot boxes. Even first generation RPGs, which some people these days will say aren't actually RPGs, had loot boxes.
Steam is also having a free weekend for Killing Floor 2, but I guess that that's not worth mentioning despite being right on the front page, at least for me. http://store.steampowered.com/app/232090/Killing_Floor_2/
