however, everything is all over the place, i dont understand where things like desktop are, and i really want all my games and savegames and music and stuff on my new hardrive if possible. so could someone please tell me how to make it my primary hard drive?jpph

Not sure what OS you have, but try Documents and settings\"your username" desktop ... this is the desktop location

i dont want windows to boot from it, but for it to be my main hardrive, so whenever i want to access something on it, i wont have to open my computer, it'll just be there on the desktop?jpph

You can add a shortcut to your second harddrive onto your desktop... just right click on the drive in "my computer" select create shortcut

also, i got the orange box, and i wanted it on the 500gb hdd. it installs wherever steam is so i had to delete steam, then download it again to the 500gb so the orange box would go there. this worked fine until i stupidly tryed to move a folder to 500gb, which had something to do with steam in it (which i really dont understand) so it malfunctioned and wouldnt play half life 2. so i deleted steam again, re downloaded it into 500gb, but then it just says and error comes up and i have to verify that steam install msi exists and i should log on as administrator. I AM ADMINISTRATOR! so i tried to uninstall the orange box, but hey hey, where did it go?? i cant find it!jpph

Just moving programs that have been installed will usually come up with bad results, on installing you should be asked where or what location you want to install to... but some files will always be installed onto the C: drive... usaully saves in the "my documents" folder

static electricity is isn't easy to nail down and doesn't always do the damage right away, you could get away with no anti-static strap and install with no problems and the system would boot fine.. but months or even weeks down the line you could start to have problems with your hardware...it's your call...

touching the case is fine, but only really works if the power supply is connected.. and static can start to build up as soon as you let go of the case, you shouldnt build on a carpet as it is a conductor.. and a wooden floor is fine, but because of wood treatments and paint.. it can create static too... stone/tiled floor is best.

and if you haven't got an anti-static strap.. then a wire around your wrist and the other end on the case (power supply plugged in) should be fine.

[QUOTE="marcthpro"]6ms barely see ghosting . 2ms cons is clarity of image. of lcd else everyone would go 1920x1200 2ms. =)
but i believe 2ms 1920x1200 will become a stand-art monitor by end 2009 with high equality image such as Dell Or Samsung 6ms monitor that are the top : image quality & black and stuff but while acer & stuff as 2ms. monitor for response monitor are quite more complex Markie200 i can show you a url about it if you mind http://monitortest.blogspot.com/
it explain how monitor are made how they work in big detail so user can know how to know if a monitor is good
and for what purpose some are more video game related some more movie related. how ever
it say in the end the dell is great but it as a input lag.issue which gonna be fix in the new rebuild by end of July
For BenQ They are a medium quality: 2ms. 1920x1200 quality in over-all
dell is a over-all medium there is not perfect screen yet
The Year Around 2014 : the era of OLED is suppose to be this the big revolution disappearance of LCD incoming market of OLED OLED
for Organics Light Emitting Diode made of Organics cells such as in cellular screen is life-spawn a problem but not in future
is having 10x more potential for ms : light & effect then any lcd screen
it near the perfection but it SO expensive and how gonna go gaming on it. who know !
all i heard off it as a incredible potentials and is the killer of LCD monitor & TV for future
yet in 13 inch : with 30,000 life spawn. about to expend to 60,000 and 20 inch for around 5000$
expensive indeed. =) but i can't wait to see how it look the future.

Well.. with monitors i guess it's always a question of.. how much have you got to spend :) and sometimes personal preferance.

DVI is a standard and the connection doesn't change, i'm not sure about xbox, i don't have one, but if it takes a HDMI connection then you should have no problems.. just make sure the monitor supports it...Oh! and try to get a monitor that's about 2ms (responce time) or so, or else you can get ghosting and one with a high Contrast Ratio

Windows firewall on Xp is very good and it doesn't take up many system resources to run, it might not be very user friendly and doesn't have allot of options and doesn't protect the registry, but it's good enough to protect your machine against hackers..... although in saying this.... no matter what firewall you have, if you've downloaded a virus or a root kit from a site, you could be in trouble.

Just be careful what you download and execute, if your unsure, do a virus scan on it.... but windows firewall is good at what it does.

humm... try your monitor on another PC or even a laptop and see if it works.... if it doesn't then the problem is with you monitor... if it works, then your graphics card could be fried..
