Not sure if your trying to login online or offline, but sometimes when your first logging on and creating a new account the game can seem like it's hanging.. and also if you don't have the right ports open on your firewall (if your using one) then BF2 wont connect or come back with an error....

try logging on for a single player (offline) game and see if it works.... Hope this helps

I can't say that i have an answer for you, but i had a similar problem with a keyboard on an MSI Moboard... i kept having to unplug it and plug it back in for the system to pick it up....

I reckon it's to do with legacy hardware... check your bios for legacy support on mice and keyboards.... oh and i sorted my problem buy changing my moboard to ASUS.. it has legacy support :)

Humm.... i don't think i would have done a restore... but anyways..

You should remove any drivers that you have currently installed for the card... and the reboot and install the older version that you had before, then once your system is stable... you could chance the update again.... make sure you always uninstall the current drivers before upgrading on the video card

hope this helps...

I'm not sure if you can monitor a laptop fan... if i were you, i'd check the manufacturer web site to see if they have a bios update or information on fan's failing..... also when your using the laptop you should make sure nothing is blocking the intake.... which is usually under the laptop... a flat surface is better.

How much memory have you got installed in the system??

Vista 64 has a bug with memory over 3gb.... but once the OS is installed you can patch it to use memory over 8gb to about 120gb or so..

[QUOTE="mbrockway"]The update was taken down. You can't get it right now, sorry.bsman00

taken down why??

This is why...

Patrick Seybold, Sony's public relations bigwig-->As has been reported on many gaming blogs and websites, we have temporarily taken Firmware v2.40 offline. We've received a limited number of calls from consumers experiencing an issue with installing the system software update on their PS3. While our consumer services department has seen a low volume of calls on this topic, we are committed to providing the PS3 community with XMB access features delivered in the v2.40 update. We are working diligently to isolate the problem for those few consumers and to identify a solution before we put the firmware back up.
