I've got this program called Phenommsrtweaker that supposedly let's you set clock speeds and voltage in windows. That should do the trick right?

Well I know I could do it in the BIOS, but it seems like the BIOS lacks some of the functionality provided for by some of the software that I've seen. The BIOS seems pretty barebones in terms of what it can do. Is there some advantage to doing it in the BIOS? Also, I have the software provided by my MB manufacturer (MSI) but didn't know if that's the best one to use.
So, I'm wanting to get into overclocking but am looking for some good software that won't cost the earth. I've got some free stuff, but I want one that will provide constant monitoring in the background kind of a things, or as a desktop widget. Any recommendations? Right now I'm working with HWMonitor, AMD Overdrive and Core Temp. I've downloaded the trial version of AIDA64, which is awesome but at fourty dollars doesn't really seem worth it for someone like me...
Ok, well I found the problem. Turns out that trying to reassmble your computer at 2:20 AM may not have been the best idea in the world. I hadn't seated the RAM properly, and in the poor lighting it only LOOKED like the the GPU fan wasn't spinning. So. Thanks for all the help fellows, but it's up and running now!
So while attempting to swap out my CPU cooler, i may have broken my GPU but am not sure how to confirm this. I had to pull it completely out in order to get my new CPU cooler in, but when I put it back in it wouldn't turn on. I'm assuming it's broken but would like to make sure since it's a $300 dollar GPU. In case it matters it's a Sapphire Toxic 5850 1GB. If you need anymore information, i'll be crying in that corner over there.
Well if you have the same CPU and MB and I am also using Overdrive - which I am - why don't the core temps show up? They're all grayed out. Is something broken?
Sounds great, but it only reads Intel CPUs. Thanks for all your help though.
Yeah, I mean I can see the four cores listed, but they all have a temperature of 0. It only shows a temperature for the CPU, not for individual cores.
Well I downloaded both HWMonitor and AIMA64 - which seems cool, i might buy it - and it looks like I do have a CPU temperature monitor, but only for the CPU overall, not for the individual cores. Does that sound normal?
