When running things like a quad core and a 4890 on a 22" monitor, I hit the sleep button on my keyboard whenever I leave the room. Stops all my fans and draws nearly no watts. Monitor takes longer to wake up than computer :) With a sleep button on keyboard, it takes the extra 5 seconds total, but saves money in electricity.

EDIT - I already have Vista 64 Business and Windows Xp Pro 32-bit (probably gonna run XP)

Basically, I am selling the computer in my Sig to my parents for $500 (not a bad deal in my opinion, pre-built) and I am upgrading. Thus far:

4gb Gskill Ram with ANTEC 300 Case

700w OCZ PSU

XFX 4890

500gb HDD 32mb Cache 7200RPM

Combo Deal for AMD Phenom II 940 BE and Motherboard

Total Price - $680.25 shipped

Masterdj1992

Bought this setup earlier off newegg, should ship within a couple days. Antec 300 has the same cooling as the 900 except the top fan is 140mm not 200mm... Antec 300 also has a removable grill in the front (almost like a netting that catches dust and washable) And it is less pretty but it is in a combo deal for $15 off and $60 less overall before combo. When this computer gets here that will be my second antec 300 case... Recommend putting in 2 more 120mm fans in the front.

Note this does NOT include Operating System, Monitor, Keyboard, or Mouse.

You can get a good 22-24" monitor for $200, OS for $100 bringing total up to about $980.25 shipped (if free shipping on OS and monitor)without keyboard or mouse.

Enjoy!

This set up will own every game thrown at it. It will devour all!!! But in essence yes it is a good build, picked out special for you. :) By the way, the video card has a cooler built in and the processor comes with one. Overclocking is when you push your components to go faster than they are at stock. So say the processor that I picked out is at 2.66ghz, and I changed some settings and voltages to make it run at 2.9ghz. That is overclocking. Video cards are easy to overclock through various programs, but processors can be a bit more dangerous. Don't need a separate cooler if you are going to be keeping everything stock and not overclocking. Make sure you pick out a mouse and keyboard as well, they are really personal decisions. I got some cheap ones from Bestbuy and I like them, but whatever fits your preference.

For those who don't want to click through, this system is an i7 920, Antec 900 Case, XFX 4890 GPU, 6gb ddr3 OCZ, Vista Home Premium, 1TB Hard Drive, 24x CD/DVD Burner, 750W Antec Power Supply, and an ASUS Motherboard.

Processor/Motherboard Combo

Case/Power Supply Combo

RAM

Video Card

Hard Drive

Disk Drive

Operating System(vista home premium, you will need to utilize ram and can upgrade to the New Windows 7 later this year)

The total comes out to $1,312.35 Without a monitor. A monitor is about $200 more. I can scale back some parts if you want monitor included(and keyboard and mouse).

Enjoy!
