@P00DGE: Yeah i am aware, and even though I have Age 2 HD and play it, I feel like it was a money grab. They didn't actually update the models. They just put in a couple new simple graphical effects and changed the resolution. If they had put as much effort into age 2 HD as they did this definitive addition it wouldn't have just been good, it would have been fantastic.

@sephirothswing: Yeah i mean no one expects them to fix it. Its just this old game isn't a good game anymore. Literally everything has been improved upon in more modern rts. Not the devs fault, the game just didn't age gracefully.

If only they had updated Age 2 like this. Would have been definitely worth it. This was ever nearly as popular as Age 2 or even Age 3. Should have chosen the game they remastered more wisely.

@chriss_m: Hahahaha, yeah cause they signed what contract with you? Just cause you want something or however million people want something doesn't mean its an obligation. Unless authors willingly make a promise there is no such obligation. Don't like it don't buy books.

Its interesting to see how the give tens more and more frequently in the past few years than before. I think they should have a 9.5 score for games that are almost there but not quiet which is what i would give to a lot of the newer tens on the list.

I feel like some of the reviewers gave the scores based purely on there emotion rather than what really would be general opinion. Now some people may argue that of course it will be biased. However, there should be some consistency as a whole for the site. It should not be reviewer roulette.

For example, like MSG4 is one of my favorite games and its on of the ones that sticks in my mind, but I even know its flaws. Even though story game play mechanics and graphics were amazing, character control and combat fluidity were kinda poor (even when it first came out). I have a strong emotional attachment to the game, but I even know that it doesn't deserve a 10 even though I like it more than some games I know deserve a ten.

On a side note, Gamespot if you are listening you should keep an active list of most impactful/must play games that is independent of review score.

@catsimboy: Yeah thats why the wii had steady sales through its life cycle. Thats why my parents who criticized me for playing games would play wii sports on and off for many years. Stop bring up the wii U. People didnt buy it cause it was a lack luster console that people didnt buy cause it didnt improve on the parts of the wii that they liked. We don't owe nintendo anything, they are a for profit company, there is no reason to "support" there next console even if we liked the wii.

@Tiwill44: No offense, but who said your reason is the "right reason" and theirs is the "wrong reason". They made a game that influenced other media sources. This is not best games of all times or most groundbreaking games of all time but most influential games of all time if you read the article.

@J_P-: Again you dont get my point. It went beyond the gamer niche of the time. Its about CULTURAL IMPACT. It converted many a non gamer. Sales figures for it where unheard of at the time. By 2005 it sold more than 5 million copies. Again its not about what was recognized by gamers for being revolutionary its, about what was recognized by non gamers.

@Tiwill44: Metal Gear Solid, Metroid, or Castlevania didn't have an extremely popular movie based on them. Tomb raider brought the relatively small video game industry into the Hollywood spotlight unlike other b movies like mortal kombat. Also like DaVillain said, one of the first female heroine.

@catsimboy: First of all you have no idea how much people played wii sports. Just because you and your friends put it down after an hour doesn't mean your representative of the whole world. It is kinda the poster child of the wii, and the wii was revolutionary and is in a sense a step towards VR. Instead of visual immersion there it was movement immersion. It was copied on two other consoles and while it wasn't executed perfectly it was still good enough to be popular for the lifespan of the console.

Sorry that the world doesn't revolve around us "gamers"
