Makes you wonder how nice it would be when crysis comes out, or other high graphics and beautiful looking games come out. For the 3d glasses things.

I don't think anyone can be surprised that the newest card that comes out, is going to be the better one. They have more time to work on it. Nvidia sent out the 8800gtx earlier, so they got more money since ati's card wasn't out yet and for people who wanted to upgrade to the best available at the time they only had one choice. Now that ati spent more time, it's not surprising that the r600 will be better. Next, nvidia will come out with an even more powered version than the r600 and everyone will say "oh it's the greatest card and better then the r600" then ati will come out with another one. Basically a nonstop cycle.

http://videos.howstuffworks.com/computer-build-1-video.htm That video will help you a lot I think it's video number 4 for putting on the cpu. Basically your just going to allign the cpu right and drop it in. then I think theres a safety lever that will snap into place (unsure about different mobos).

I am going to need one to hook up 2 computers to my cable connection, and have no really clue how their is differences between them all/ good brands. I heard like d-link or linksys are good, but then I don't really know what I am supposed to look at to see how good they are.

Also, I was looking to buy it off newegg.com most likely.

Not sure if it matters, but one computer will be vista home premium the other xp. And one will be used for gaming while the other is for surfing the web etc.

I would say go to the router's main site and look at their frequently asked questions or if they have a support forum.

[QUOTE="frost_mourne13"]i used PC Mechanic's How to build your own pc, and my motherboard manual, what about you MercenaryKnight? on topic: Try the Gateway FX, or the Dell XPS700 if you really are set on buying your pc

I went to http://videos.howstuffworks.com/computer-build-1-video.htm for most of the showing how to build it. I found it better since it kind of shows how easy it can be to do it all. Then just googled random tutorials and looked around. Still waiting on my shipment before I get to put it all together.

Well, as everyone in this forum will tell you. You will save a lot more money putting one together yourself. It isn't as hard as the words "build your own computer" sounds. If you google around you should be able to find some videos and tutorials. This forum always has people who can help you pick out stuff (they certainly helped me with all my noob questions and my computer I ordered off newegg.com).

I am taking a guess that most websites with pre-build computers are going to come with the newest os (vista). But I would think if he doesn't need a gaming rig, dell is alright and usually has decent warranties.

If you had to take out the ram inorder to "make room for the hard drive" I would think maybe it some how knocked it out of place or something. Or pushes against it while it's closed maybe or something? Maybe just try switching the sticks between the 2 slots again and seeing if maybe it has any effect. Also check for dust/ anything that might block anything inside the case.

I am a noob so try not to take my suggestions too seriously.

Yeah, I was actually looking through the case. I think I might end up giving the manual's a once over before I even start the process of putting it all together. I have watched videos and read guides on the process, and it isn't that bad. But since it is my first time I am probably a bit more nervous then someone who's built computers in the past. Besides, I still have to wait for the rest of the parts to get here anyways and I already got the case and monitor. So I might just start reading that manual to get more prepared. Thanks alot to both of you for the encouragement and support I greatly appreciate it. :)
