I think I know how to do the usb thing now, but my question is when I put the 2 usb connectors, am I putting it on the same mobo square set of pins, or am I supposed to do like 1 set of the connectors on the left 10 pins and the other 5 connectors on the right 10 pins. Or am I supposed to put both the connectors on the same square of 10 pins.

Yeah, the 3 cords permanently attatched to the psu aren't for the graphics (finally hit myself said doh and figured it out). I still have the 4 pin pwr3 thing that needs to be plugged into the psu to the mobo. Now I have tried setting up stuff for the front side power led reset and what not switches.. But my power led switch is 3 pin and it says I need to take the pin in the middle and somehow cut it off so the 1 and 3 can connect. (very scared on how I should do that) Also, I am trying to connect the usb ports on top of my thermal take case to the mobo, but it seems like the switches are off, or not named the same. In my mobo it says Pin1 5v_dual Pin2 5v_dual Pin 3 D- Pin 4 D- Pin 5 D+ Pind 6 D+ Pin 7 GND Pin 8 GND Pin 9 empty Pin 10 no connect. In my case it says Pin1 USB+5V Pin2 LDM1 Pin3 LDP1 Pin4 GND Pin5 NC (that is for USB1) For USB2 the pins say Pin6 USB+5V Pin7 LDM2 Pin8 LDP2 Pin9 GDN Pin 10 --. From the best of my knowledge I am guessing that USB+5V would = the pin 5v_dual on my mobo's instructions.

If it helps any it's an evga 680I mobo.

I am taking a guess here that the pwr3 cable I need is the one from the graphics card itself. I now see how I need to set up the pci-e 6pin cords.

I am going to plug in the 8800gtx, and I think I am being stupid because from the looks of it I think the "3 cords" that came straight into my psu is that so if there was a 4 pin instead of the 8 pin on the cpu, that I could switch between the cords. I looked through my power supply bag and found pci-e cables but it seems to be only 6 pins and I need a 4 pin to connect to it. Do I need to like plug in the video card first and maybe there will be it's own cable in that box?

I just read up and yes, the 2 cords from the psu were both for the cpu (incase it was 4pin or 8pin). So, now I need to figure out what kind of cord I am going to need for the pwr3 auxiliary power for graphics part.

If that helps any it's a link to show all the cords that came with my psu.

I started putting it together and have the mobo screwed in, psu screwed in, cpu on, heatsink on, ram on. Now I am starting the process of plugging it all in and having some problems.

The corsair 620w psu had the 3 cords, one was the 24 pin for the mobo, one is for the cpu and the last one I guess is for the graphics card. I plugged in the 24 pin and the cpu one, but now I can't figure out how to install the last one for the pwr3 gpu part.

The pins themselves are lined up as x  x  x  x and the cord that I have all the connectors are in a square xx then 2 underneath them. I don't know if it's possible for me to pull them apart, and even if I did I wouldn't know which to which prong since it doesn't seem to label the actual connectors.

Also, I just want to ask. I looked into the mobo manual and it says under "parts not included" that their is no microprocessor fan. Is that supposed to be considered the heatsink fan for the cpu or a seperate fan that I need to get. I am guessing that it was meant to be the cpu fan/heatsink just worded a bit differently. But since I am a noob I figured might as well ask and make sure.

Edit...

I got this ram http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220144 and I read reviews saying that it starts out at I guess 5-5-5-12 instead of the 4-4-4-12 that it states. I know theirs an nvidia tool that can make me change stuff once I eventually get the os and all the software on the computer easier than in bios for a noob like me. So should I just let the ram run however it wants for the bios and installing, then change it with that tool to the appropriate timings and voltage? Or should I do it right as I get in the bios if it's not that hard.

Just looked at my motherboard and I realized that it says Memory Standard: DDR2 1200. I think I only bought 800 speed ram. Does that mean it's not going to work right? Or just that it'll be a bit slower or something? I know it's still ddr2 800 but just I guess worried.

Oh and to add on I did spend the 5 dollars for the anti static strap. I have done stuff like replace ram and read just about everything I could, including the case and mobo manuals. Also watched videos on how to build a computer so I have done a lot of homework.

Darn, i'm not legal to drink yet or I definitely would do that.

Take this as a lesson everybody. Cheaters never prosper. Don't lie and cheat to get things, or this will happen to you.
