Bayonetta 2 on Switch is a Win-Win regardless how you look at it; Improved performance and the ability to take a truly amazing Wii U classic with you and play it wherever you want. That's more than enough for me.
And for those of you chiming in about the price, I'd like to point out that paying full price gets you both games (Bayonetta 1 and 2).
The hardware revisions you'd need to make it work would be a problem I'd think. The 3DS achieves it's 3D effects using two screens within eachother. It also has a custom graphics processor capable of rendering these two displays at once (which means you'd probably need a GPU with some extended capabilities and more muscle behind it). Then you have the hurdle of displaying your 3D games on a TV that doesn't support the architecture involved. It would be a mess, actually.
I think 3D should remain on dedicated devices (such as pure handhelds) with the technical endowments to make it work. This is one of the reasons why the 3DS still has a place in the industry.
@Micropixel: I never said it wasn't selling well right now. I'm saying Switch was never going to sell 100 million units regardless of target market. The OG Wii was catching lightning in a bottle.
Yeah, I don't think the original Wii's success will ever be replicated (at least from a casual stand-point anyway). That system sold a lot of units with few hardware re-iterations. I'm not so sure the Switch can hit those kinds of numbers without some sort of technical revisions like the DS had with the DS Lite and the DSi.
This was never going to sell 100 million units, especially if they only targeted the hardcore fanbase. If anything targeting casuals is the reason why it surpasses my 35 million estimate, but still won't hit 100 million even with the casuals. Depending on how successful Labo is out the gate, I might have to finally change my Switch sales estimate.
Switch is selling well right now without LABO or anything casual. So you're already wrong.
