@sealionact: it does pay, want to talk about things outside the US on this site then you need to specify that. I wouldn't expect every topic at eurogamer to be about the US...
How much of an asshole are you?
UK is currently still 39.99, that price change is still on the table and they are weighing as they should if they can get away with it or to keep it lower for a bit longer in hopes of attracting much needed business.
@mightofphobos: first of all, ftp titles are in party of a category of games that do not require ps plus, among others such as any games with their own subscription. Further, an example of AAA with only portions of features requiring ps plus (again, that is a dev/pub decision) is destiny, where most of the game does not need ps+, while pvp and raids do. (Bungee changes this in destiny 2 ). Watchdogs was another game for example.
Simply using the classification of games free of ps+ makes the list long, then going through each title to see which features, if any, the developers chose to use ps+ for or not.
Also, why do you require 50.1%??? Who said anything of majorities?
@sealionact: in the uk( pays to specify where), which had already seen a price hike before and is still pending one now. Meanwhile, msft nearly tripled it's xbl price in some countries.. TRIPLED....
No, xbl didnt increase in price being as it has had that same (high) mandatory price the whole time while not offering games for much of it.
As far as ps plus in your area going from 40 to 50, that's an issue to complain to your government about, everybody else is seeing barely 20% also, this has been in progress for a while now.
@mightofphobos: no, it's a huge difference, all the difference. Also, for the most part online play is free. Only some titles or portions of titles have a requirement for ps plus (a decision made by the devs/publishers).
@xnshd: funny you said research, while being ignorant of well published data readily proving my point. Msft is already into it's third revision in an attempt to perform as well, good for them, though they are a few years late and worse still, lacking an attractive library.
