here are some variations of artifacts that i got before it officially RROD'd.

when this happened to you and you got it back, was it fixed, or have you had any problems since?

it seems all too common that people are receiving their boxes back only to find that the problem was not solved.

i hope i get a new 360 (unlikely) if only for the quieter drive.

I got the RROD today, but just before it happened, i took pics when my 360 froze.

This happened multiple times, during games and on the dashboard. I have seen this happen with an overclocked videocard, and wondered if this was normal before the RROD. my return box is on its way. :(

i got the rrod today. first, it froze during rock band and went to a black screen so i shut it off and turned it back on. then it froze during the game again, but the screen stayed on with "artifacts" all over the screen. i knew what was about to happen, so i turned it off and back on with a different game, COD4. i got into a multiplayer game and it froze again with the same artifacts. restart twice more, two more freezes.

i called microsoft to start the replacement procedure without getting the rrod and as soon as i got off the phone with them, i booted it back up and low and behold... RROD!

this was my first unit, lasted 11 months. i want to see if i get a new box with the quieter disc drive. i don't care about hdmi, i have vga anyway.

these next ~5 weeks are going to be hell.

correct. all "third party" controllers will work with rock band, as confirmed here

however, the rock band guitar does not work with gh2/3...yet. it's up to the developer of gh3 to update the games to work with rock band's guitar.

i hope that they do because i'm buying the rock band bundle, but won't be buying gh3 unless it's fixed and the rock band guitar works with it. i already have the xplorer from gh2.

it comes with the game, ONE guitar, microphone, drums, and a 4 port usb hub (which has a seperate power adapter you need to find room to plug in). $169.

you'd have to get another guitar (which most people will already have) to play with 4 people.

I'm so glad mine works perfectly, BTW I'll never detach the neck unless I have to go and bring it to another place. don't like the idea on detaching and re-attaching it every time I play with it, it might loosen up the connectors or something :(

True. plus i like the extra 5 buttons, realistic look and larger size of the rock band controller. i haven't played with it, so i don't know how it feels. i'm not sure if i'll like the fact that the buttons look like they're flush with the fret board instead of raised like gh.

sickness, thanks for that info. i am definitely buying rock band now. im pretty sure if rock band will work with GH2/3 controller than i bet GH3 will work with rock band guitarScreamin_EaGLes

right now: rock band guitar will NOT work with any other game. however, guitar hero guitars WILL work with rock band.

if the developers for guitar hero 3 release a patch, then there is a possibility to make the rock band guitar work with gh2/3

Haha, I wont buy Rock Band till the Guitar Hero 3 controller will work with it.

it's already been confirmed that rock band will work with all "third party" guitars.

i've seen it from other sources too. gh controllers will work with rock band, but not the other way around... yet.
