i already have gh2 with the xplorer, and will be buying rock band with the full arrangement. i really want to buy gh3, but can't see spending $60 for the game when i will still only have one guitar (one player) to play with. i know i can use the xplorer with rock band, so i'm all set with that.

does anyone know if there are any plans to update gh2/3 to work with the rock band guitar? it's up to neversoft, i think... whoever made gh3, according to rock band.

and no, i'm not going to buy the game/guitar package for gh3. i don't need 3 guitars. plus, the detachable neck is just a bad idea. there are already problems, and its only going to get worse as it wears down.

i was wondering because certain games will give you an odd number of points (sonic 7 points for getting to the spring yard zone).

i like to have an even number... well, a 5 or a 0 at the end of my score. my score is 7772. i'd rather have 7775 or 7770, etc.

is there a site that will list where i can get a quick 3 points or 8 points without having to look at the achievements for each individual game.

it's not really a big deal, but a little OCD, i guess.

i read about the guy who got achievements every day since the consoles launch and figured he knew what points to get to land him on specific numbers, ie. 12345, 54321, 2222, 3333...

any help would be appreciated.

in every thread that asks about xbla games, one game is on just about everyone's top "X" list. geometry wars.

i played the demo and sucked at it, but thought maybe the difficulty got harder in a short amount of time for the demo so you could see all the visual stimulation. since the game was only 400 points, i went ahead and bought it.

bad news; the difficulty, for me, remained. i truly suck at this game. i don't really have any tactics, i just fly around in one direction and shoot at stuff in another.

my high score is 108,050, and only achievement was worth 5 points for a score over 100,000.

what are some tips you can give me with this game? i want to play it more often, but the other achievements are so far out of my reach, it's not high on my priorities list.

thanks.

[QUOTE="MstrHnky"]

ps - i have a 42" westinghouse 1080p tv.

gagit811

I know this is off topic. but I was just at best buy today, I saw that tv for $1000, I almost got it for a tv for my room. how is it.

it's a great tv, especially for that price. i paid $1600 a little over a year ago. the one at best buy this week, i believe, has 4 HDMI inputs, whereas mine only has 1 (+ 2 DVI, 2 component, VGA, etc.). you WILL notice that the blacks aren't as dark as they could be... on my tv anyway, they may have upped the contrast numbers by now. if you're watching a dark scene, the black might look "chunky" if you know what i mean. i bought the 4 year extended warranty and might use it to fix some light banding that occurs on the screen, but this is strictly my tv. my parents bought the 720p 42" version westy four months ago and it looks fine.

for $1000, you won't find a better TV at that resolution.

1)The hd-dvd player does a fine upconverting job (only through VGA or HDMI), but If you just want to watch upconverted dvds it's not worth it. If you're going to buy the add-on it should be to buy HD-dvds from now on.

2) HD-dvd and blu-ray do offer a quite noticeable upgrade in image and sound. I noticed the difference right away... but if you are somewhat skeptical when you see it, you should try getting both the dvd and hd-dvd version of a movie so you can notice it.

3) I don't think the HD-dvd player is compatible with any other remote than the one it brings, because it basically uses the same technology as the 360 controller.

thanks for the reply.

1. i use vga for my 360 (no hdmi). i plan on watching regular dvd's and buying some hd dvd's for movies i really like.

2. my friend has the hd dvd add on, a ps3 and an upconverting dvd player so i might head over his house tomorrow to see the differences.

3. the logitech 720 can turn on the 360, but i will call logitech support (wish me luck with that) to confirm compatibility with the hd dvd add-on.

any other recommendations from anyone?

is the hd dvd player worth it? i'm pretty sure the deal at best buy this week is the 360 hd dvd player for $179 and you get heroes on hd dvd for free... PLUS the normal deal of getting 7 free hd dvds - 5 by mail and 2 instantly. i would sell heroes and probably a few, if not all of the free hd dvds to recoup the cost of the player and then buy the hd dvds i really want.

my question for all of you is: is it worth me ditching my upconverting dvd player (RCA DRC255N) for the 360 hd dvd player? i have never seen the picture quality of hd dvd or blu ray, and think the upconverter does a fine job, but if hd dvd is THAT much better i may just make the switch.

also, is the hd dvd player compatible with the logitech 720 universal remote (or similar remote).

ps - i have a 42" westinghouse 1080p tv.

thanks for your input

Cod 4 all the way! beta was amazing. i'm calling it the game of the year in my book.

it's actually giving me a reason to play my DS again, too.

How often do they do this. I was considering getting Assassins Creed, Call of Duty 4, and then I could get some other game free. I know the promo going on now lasts only until this Saturday.R0SSMATHIS

i had the same train of thought. future releases aren't part of the deal, unfortunately. assassins creed isn't even listed anywhere on their site, either.

there aren't 3 current games that i want badly enough for this deal to work for me. oh well.

i would have picked up: CoD4, Guitar hero 3 (game only) and rock band (full set).
