Yeah, I'm aware of that issue, and I only posted two blogs that were within the span that old comments could be retrieved. Even so, regaining those, if possible, is better than nothing.
MuddyMaestro's forum posts
Back in April I was the recipient of a username change, formerly holding the username "MudkipMaster30", and had it changed to my current one. For the most part the transition to the username was very smooth and caused very few glitches, besides one considerably large issue. All my blogs that had been posted prior to my username change can not be viewed in their wide page format (thus comments that had been made on them cannot be viewed). I understand this is an issue directly related to username changes (due to the fact the URL changes, but will not correspond with the new username, thus breaking the link).
I heard from Jody a couple months back that this is simply an inherent issue of username changes, and I'm not asking for a fix to this issue (there are bigger fish to fry), but I'm curious if anyone is aware of any way to work around the issue and view the original pages with the comments? I'm considering creating an alternate account and reposting my old blogs there so that they can be linked to/found in a search engine, and although I can copy the original HTML for the blog posting, I can't access any of the comments, and ideally I would like to include those comments in the reposts as well. I also tried finding cached versions of the old postings, but had no luck.
So, it seems like the two biggest things that came from the patch influencing the online gameplay was a nerf to Meat Wagon's alternate special (it now takes a few seconds after the gurney explodes to regain control of the vehicle, much like Vermin's alternate special), and rearranging of some pickups on certain maps. I scratch my head wondering why either of these changes were really necessary, but apparently there is promise that balancing patch is supposed to follow this one sometime in the near future, so hopefully we'll see some more deliberate changes then.
I don't think there needs to be a higher quantity of racing games, but I do think the genre has been a bit lackluster in terms of its quality. Sure, we have had plenty of great racing games, but it has been a very long time since we've had a racing game that is GOTY quality. I believe it is possible for the genre to produce a game of such quality, but there has been little innovation compared to other genres, and racing games keep returning to the safe route that continually generates money to the publishers, but doesn't push the racing genre forward.
I've always been one for arcade style racers, as opposed to simulation racing. Though, I did enjoy supposed "simulation racers" from multiple generations back, like the original Gran Turismo since such games still had an arcade feel to them. I'd have to say my favourite series would be Burnout, or more specific, games developed by Criterion. That developer creates what few other racing games manage to do successfully, which is present an intense sensation of speed with fantastic controls and dynamics that are both fun and challenging. That said, I also really enjoyed Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, and am really looking forward to Need for Speed: Most Wanted in late October.
Why do people call it "Sweet Bot"?Demonjoe93
It's the technical term for when Sweet Tooth is in its walking/flying form. In the trailers and in the training tips they refer to it by that name.
how do the weapons compare to the other games? are the traditional weapons still there? did they add new ones? did they take some away?leon2365
Basically all of the weapons from the original series are in this game. They also have the machine gun upgrade (meag guns) and swarmer missiles from Twisted Metal: Head On (though they work a bit differently), and the napalm works the same as the gas can from Twisted Metal: Black. They also introduced stalker missiles, a sniper rifle, and a shotgun, which add a lot of depth to the weapons inventory. And some of the classic weapons have some added features, for example, ricochets can be charged up and detonated on command. Also, you can attach remote bombs directly to your opponents, and cause more damage if you wait longer before detonating the bomb.
Very nice! I wish I had done that back in the day, since it would have made the task of finding it today much easier. Actually, it would have made the task nonexistant. :P
If your internet connection will allow it, you must try the online portion of the game! At least, you should try playing some unranked games. The ranked lobbies are kinda tough on newer players online since it's difficult to overcome those who have been playing since launch, but the atmosphere in unranked games is more fun and less competitive, plus you can learn strategies playing against the pros without having it effect your stats. It'd also be a good time to get into it since a balancing patch is supposed to be released later tonight, which hopefully shake up the scope on online a bit.
There's still very few Talons out there who are a serious threat as far as scoring goes, but they can still be a real disruption, for example, when they use their magnets and can take you away from a battle you were just engaged in, which is costly since it wastes time. The patches that nerfed them made them a much smaller issue, but users of them are still not respected by most of the community.
