A quick look at the report shows that the launch PS4 and XBox One actually consumes less power than the first two revisions of the previous generation in navigation and gameplay. Standby isn't an issue at all if one unplugs the system from the outlet. Regardless, it seems to me the best time to get a console is in 4-5 years when the third revision drops.
@silversix_ I think Dragon Age 1 and 2 used heavily modified versions of the Unreal Engine. That is why those titles didn't look and run great at all. Dragon Age 3 is a big graphical leap because Bioware switched to a different game engine called Frostbite. Basically, From Software needs to move to a completely new engine. Preferably not Unreal Engine 4.
Forza and Gran Turismo are good games but the content they deliver rarely surprises me. I want something more from these types of games. A new experience beyond just new cars and new updated visuals. There's a game called Project Cars and it is said to include Oculus Rift support. This is the type of thing that surprises and excites me as a racing game fan. It is immersion on an entirely new level.
@lonesamurai1 I haven't followed Project Cars development very closely but the last time I checked it looked pretty amazing. I read that they are putting in Oculus Rift support.
@hammoud The review mentioned the feeling of repetition which is one of my biggest gripes about racing games in general. I tend to lose interest pretty quickly when this happens and switch over to multiplayer. This is a big concern for FORZA especially since their track record for releasing free content after release isn't stellar. Hope things are different this time around. We'll see.
@lonesamurai1 At this point, I'd say Polyphony Digital is playing catch-up to Turn 10. I've been a fan of the Gran Turismo series since the beginning but sadly the latest Gran Turismo game is a huge disappointment for me. The biggest flaw in Forza is the lack of FREE DLC content after release. This is where Polyphony Digital has excelled.
