[QUOTE="Myshuno"]The only issue is that the other two platforms, Xbox 360 and Wii, have that great, AAA content out NOW. I see what you're saying, but why wait for these games (which will be spectacular, no doubt) when the other two consoles have this sort of great content coming now, and at a cheaper price?the-very-best

PS2 is cheaper than both and has a massive library of games to play. It's not a rule that everyone must jump into next gen as soon as a new console arrives.

And I'm saying PS3 will offer as good an experience as the PS2, it's just taking a while to get on its feet.

But you cannot compare the PS3 to the PS2. The PS2 had a massive library of games, it's price was in line with the competing consoles, and it had already sold over 10 million units at the same point as the PS3 is in this current cycle.

Now look at it right now: The PS3 doesn't have the massive software library that the PS2 had at this point, it is leagues more expensive than any other competing console, and, when the PS2 had sold over 10 million units at this point in it's lifecycle, the PS3 has sold only 4 million. Not to mention that it is facing serious competition from the Wii and, to a lesser extent, the Xbox 360. Last generation, nobody could touch Sony, but this generation, it is facing some tough competition.

What you must keep in mind is that the PS3 and the PS2 are different consoles. Past successes with the PS2 does not ensure future sucesses with the PS3. It's happened before: Atari went under after the massive success of the 2600, and Nintendo went under with the N64 after the successes of the NES and SNES. Mistakes can cost a company marketshare.

Yeah my 360 isn't covered because it hasn't red ringed. And plus I would love to have the HDMI port and the extra HD space that I desperately need. And no I would never do that to anyone, I can't in good conscience sell something that I know to be faulty.

There's a good chance your unit might get the 3RL eventually. Also, while I'm not saying to do anything to void your warranty or endanger your house, the biggest problem with the original 360 hardware is heat and there are ways to increase the heat, also resulting in the 3RL. Also, people have said that MS has replaced their unit even without the 3RL problem, if you ask nicely. Finally, and this is a bit devious, you could always just say it has the 3RL and ship it out anyway. There's a good chance they'll just ship you a refurb, most likely one withat least the 'Zephyr' revision so they don't have to replace it again. Unless, of course, you are fine with spending money to make upfor MS's mistake. If so, more power to you.

I've heard this as well. Even if your console doesn't get the three red lights, there is a very good chance that Microsoft will repair it regardless.

Look at it this way: it is in Microsoft's best interest to comply and to give you a satisfactory product. If they repair your system at no charge to you, then, in the long run, you will probably be giving Microsoft more money in game/ascessory purchases than the little change it cost them to repair your system.

or Did MS make for the 360 only to work with the overpriced version? demi0227_basic

I think that's the answer to your question right there! :D

I had wondered the same thing before I got my 360, but in the end, I just sucked it up and put down the $100 for the Microsoft one. The good part is that, overpriced or not, the Microsoft adaptor works perfectly with no trouble whatsoever. You're paying a lot, but you get the peace of mind knowing that it will work perfectly 100% of the time.

I have seen places like I believe Amazon, Target, and other online retailers that are selling the WiFi adaptor for $70-$80, so you may want to check one of those. ;)

Oh, nobody minds more warrenty questions! I think we've all asked some ourselves!

I'm not sure how the Toys R Us warrenty is, but, like the poster above me said, the Microsoft warrenty covers you for 3 years, so a seperate warrenty from Toys R Us shouldn't be necessary.

Well, it's both!

Some 360's are overheating, and they're overheating because of the hardware inside!

If you get a new 360 (perticularily one of the new HDMI-ready ones) Microsoft has added another heatsink and done some other tinkering with the hardware to prevent it from overheating. And in the rare case that it does break, it's covered under a 3 year warrenty, so you should be covered.

Glad that you've solved your problem!

But, isn't your 360 covered under Microsoft's extended warrenty? Or is your case not covered because it's not the "3 flashing lights"?

Spiritgod

No it hasn't red ringed yet and I am not sure if it will. My 360 is having some GPU problems and it really messes with the game play so I figure I will keep my old one around for backups or anything besides gaming and get a Elite. My warranty has been up for almost 8 months now, and I am not paying to get this hunk of crap repaired.

But Microsoft just extended its warrenty to three years, so you should be covered. I'll just assume that you can't get it fixed because this extended warrenty only coveres red-ringed consoles, yes?

You could always try selling your old one, though I'm not sure how morally good that would be.

Well that's good!

You can always sell your old HDD once you've transferred everything over to your new 120 GB HDD.

I used to wonder about the same thing before I got my 360, and I can safely say that yes, Xbox 360 still looks amazing in SD.

HD is a nice luxioury, and I'd love to have one, but it's just that: a nice luxioury. Regardless of resolution, Xbox 360 games still output better textures, more polygons, more realistic animations, better lighting, etc. All of this is clearly visible in SD or HD.

Again, I'd love to have HD, but even still, I am perfectly happy and impressed with my current SD setup.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

Bioshock

Madden NFL 08 (360)

That's three games in one month, yes, but I haven't bought a new 360 game since last year, so I'm starting to catch up. ;)

I agree that this may not be the best place to post this, but I'll attempt to answer:

(in no perticular order):

-Grand Theft Auto III

-Metroid Prime

-The Sims

-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

-Goldeneye

Tough to condense it into just five! I'm hoping/thinking that Mass Effect will be able to crack into that list once it arrives. :)
