[QUOTE="Myzz617"]

I have a 46 inch Sharp aquos TV and a Samsung 23 or 24 inch LCD. I will prob use the 46 inch for gaming. I think the best I can do for resolution is 1280X1024 on that TV i believe. Been a while since I played any PC games on it. Why not go with an I7 processor if they are really demanding? US currency of course and I should not need an OS as I am tech savvy lol.

The i7's aren't really any better than i5's when gaming. The price difference isn't justifiable.

Btw, I don't think that you need 2 video cards for RTS games. A single GTX 570 or HD 6970 should be more than adequate.

So this day and age what are two cards ideal for? Would an RTS game benefit at all in FPS and overall performance with two 6950s flashed to 6970s? I am an Antec fan so I have been staring at the 1200 or the Lanboy case. Thanks for the help though. I dont plan on building this ASAP just trying to educate myself on the best bang for buck I can get. I will probably have the money for this by march-april ish. Question is how expensive will this new hardware be when it comes out? Usually when they release new HW it drops their current stuff slightly so maybe it would be better to wait in the long run? I know back when i built my rig then started to see newer cards come out and then 2-3 weeks later my cards became dumb cheap I felt like a tard lol.

I am trying to build a new gaming rig. I mainly play RTS games on it and might watch movies. I have looked at some bench marks from a few sites and it seems the Radeon HD 6950 or gtx560ti is in my price range. I want to go with two cards for Crossfire or SLi configuration. I am not sure if I am going to build a AMD or Intel machine yet. I have been looking at boards that support both SLi and crossfire but they mainly fit Intel processors (i7). Since I am trying to spend as least as possible I think a AMD machine is the best bet for me this go around. Plus their processors seem to have more cores for a cheaper price then intel. I currently have a machine with two 8800gt's in SLI on a Windows 7 Ultimate device Dual core CPU.I would like to spend no more than $1500 on this new rig. So the question; is it worth it to spend $600 on two cards or should I look at getting just one high priced card? What about going with three 5870's? Would that even work or be worth it? Also I dont have a 7.1 surround sound system so is it worth it to look into a sound card? The setup I have now has done me good with the onboard sound connected to my system via optical cable. I have been outta the PC gaming arena for a while and just looking to build a decent system that will last me 2-3 years. My last PC i built was in 08.

Build your own rig bro! Dont buy prebuilt systems unless you have to and even then those are for simple data processing not gaming. You will get more bang for your buck building your own.

Good thread. Been looking at cards lately and building a new Rig and was feeling the 6950 but seems the 5870 is better bang for the buck! Been out the loop fo far too long

I have been out of the gaming race for a while now. Prob almost a year and have started looking at things myself. I am trying to figure out if I should build a AMD rig or Intel. I was thinking intel with a board that supports crossfire, would that be a wise investment? Or just go AMD all the way? I really like their prices esp on their cards. Dont mean to jack your thread but videocards is what motivates me to build a new rig since my current one will not support the newer processors. Better off making that my HT PC :)

Has anyone picked up a copy of killzone 3 yet and confirmed that it includes a copy of the SOCOM4 beta?
