I know not all high rated games released recently are like that but I'm noticing some sort of trend in games. Take for instance, deadspace, fallout and crysis. They all contain so much violence and most of the times it's just mindless killing without much substance.

Not only that but there's also the depressive background of those games. It's always a lonely person walking around in a hopeless and empty world trying to survive or kill. In fallout, you walk around in a depressive world in ruins shooting people and zombies and exploding their heads.

In Crysis you're kinda all alone in an island full of enemies and you just run around mindlessly shooting koreans and monsters.

And deadspace...lol...the name speaks for itself.

And the list goes on and on.

But my biggest beef with all these games is that there's too much unnecessary violence without substance. What happened to the games that used to touch the deepest part of ourselves, that used to enlighten our minds in the most uplifting ways and teach us how to be a little better as a human being? Doesnt the world have too much violence and depression already? Isn't the point of gaming as a hobby to have our little entertaining escape from this world? If there's so much violence and sadness in games how are we escaping from the world?

I don't mind a little violence in games as long as the violence isn't just for the sake of violence, but due to something much more meaningful and edifying...

Sorry for the rant...Im just a little frustrated and sad for personal reasons right now. Thanks for reading.

I hope nobody replies with: "just don't play the game" or "don't game go read books" (i do that already) or "be quiet sissy" or "you don't like it but we like it".

I'm sure a lot of girls are of this same opinion. Maybe if game developers took these complaints to heart and adapt as needed, more girls would be willing to play their games?

I too suffer for motion sickness when playing Half life 2 (and all games using this engine).
After about 30mins to hour I have to stop as I get dizzy with a head ache.
It lasts for about 30mins after playing too

I play many other games with no ill effect, it must be something that is specific to the engine, I guess?

I'd be interested in finding out why this happens though.

Fliposide

Happens with me too.

Here's an interesting question. I don't think this is the appropriate place to ask but oh well...I've been asking around anyway.

here it goes. I worked in japan for a few months (i have dual citizenship, US and Japanese), but it did not go very well. I'd like to erase those months from my life and it would be great if american recruiters didn't find out about this unfortunate venture of mine. Does anyone here know if recruiters are able to check up on information from an overseas job? Can they even know if you've held a job in another country?

Thank you for reading :D

There isn't really an open world to explore, but that means you have a good immersive storyline. The neverwinter series always had good writing and I think this is no exception, even if sometimes the gameplay is not up to par with the story.

All in all, one of the better RPGs out there.:)
