Is this even a new thing for the series? Unless my memory is incorrect, I recall not buying the first game at launch because the micro transactions looked so outrageous 12 years ago. I'm not defending them, but I'm confused as to why people expected better in a decade when gaming is even less worth your money.
@acosmicelf: You're probably correct. But if they're doing something like a Soul Reaver remaster that's mostly a graphical overhaul, then it could be much faster. Or if they had done a bunch of previous work on a concept they decided to abandon, but thought that it would make a good LOK game instead with some changes, that could cut down on development time.
It's weird reading the "cons" on this because that's more or less how I remember Dead Space 2 being, and yet that's regarded as a classic. For the record, I still liked that game but I remember every time I encountered a horde of enemies thinking, "Man, the horror parts of this work so much better. The combat is too clunky for these action sequences."
90% of the reason consoles even exist are to control what people can or can't play. Anybody who owns any brand of console is in support of these business practices. Doing it a different way would remove the need for consoles.
I'm more interested to see if Bethesda can finally make games quicker and with less bugs developing for only 2 platforms. If I understand correctly, trying to develop for so many at once was one of the big excuses why their games are so messed up all the time. Best case scenario would be that Microsoft gets them to release a more polished game as a timed exclusive, Sony and Nintendo get it later, but everyone gets a less janky version in the end.
Wow, I had no idea the new Lion King was actually live-action. It must have been very difficult to train all those animals to talk and remake Elton John songs.
@XBgyManX: Especially considering that games like Ninja Gaiden and Breath of the Wild get super-high ratings while having terrible cameras that get you killed in difficult battles.
Personally, I would love this since I only usually play multiplayer with real friends while hanging out. But 2 things are telling me it's a doomed idea.
1 I'm pretty sure this could already be easily done on PC if game developers wanted to include it as a mode. The fact that you never see it means that nobody wants to be the one who tries to popularize it.
2 I'm pretty sure that even if everyone was begging for it, all major console makers would resist it as long as possible to increase more subscriptions to their online services. If you're making a console right now, your #1 priority is to get people to pay extra for everything possible, and online services are their main scam.
@gotrekfabian: Don't be so politically incorrect. People find terms like "the foolish" impolite, and they prefer to be called "The entire modern FPS playerbase".
