Are the download codes region locked or something? Why wouldn't you just have it shipped over from Europe? I know it's more expensive, but if you care about that then you're not the target market for collector's editions anyway.
@lonewolf1044: My point was that on consoles you've got no option but to take their crap, or at least your alternatives are more difficult or expensive to get into console modding. On PC they can attempt this crap, but unless they can stop everyone from torrenting it afterwards then they will fail.
@Vodoo: Welcome to consoles. This kind of thing is one of the reasons PC gaming is getting popular again. I usually buy my games legally, but I like having other options if I want the game and nobody wants to take my money.
@moonco: Yep, this was the deciding generation of consoles that nullifies anything that happened before or after. It's why Nintendo is still around, the success of the Switch this gen changed history and erased those 3 consoles they went out of business.
@Xanthus179: E.V.O. was fun, so the concept has me interested. My only worry is that when a dev takes an ambitious concept and then says they'll make it appealing for "all types" of gamers, they end up with something like Spore where it fails to really catch on with any specific audience.
@sladakrobot: To be fair, I'm pretty sure you could set it to completely turn-based in the options menu. I'm almost sure I saw that option in FFIV and FFVI, I would assume FFVII had it too.
I remember complaining when many other genres were being abandoned so that every company could focus on a glut of FPS games. Now we've come full circle and the FPS fans are complaining that traditional FPS are being cancelled for BR and FTP titles.
How will the bar lower even further when the cycle repeats again in about 10 years?
@bdrtfm: But with the games that they're signing as exclusive, what are the chances that the devs will see a cent of that money? These deals are made by the big publishers that own those devs and who probably pocket all the money. I'd be more likely to accept your argument in the case of indy developers.
If Epic announces that Soldak Entertainment is releasing Din's Legacy exclusively on Epic Store, I won't feel bad buying it on release day because I'm sure that money will go to the guy who earned it.
