@Gelugon_baat: I haven't researched it much, so I might be mistaken, but it doesn't seem too complicated if I understand it correctly.
1. Same Hyrule, different time periods.
2. Zelda is immortal and exists through all of them.
3. Link and Ganondorf keep getting reincarnated. Ganondorf's soul always finds some evil way of coming back from wherever the Hyrule afterlife is, and since Link's destiny is to kick his ass, Link is born again to do so.
They should bring in Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell as special consultants for the dialog, since they were the main inspiration for Duke's personality in the only popular game of the series.
@jach: Duke Nukem yes, Doom no. I think someone like Guillermo Del Toro would be way better for Doom. A Michael Bay Doom would probably be closer to the Doom movie that already exists.
@RedWave247: The difficulty is mostly exaggerated. Most of the game isn't too bad if you play cautiously. There are a few parts that are a little bit extra tough for each character class, and only a few spots that will make your head explode no matter what type of character you make. If you get stuck, the difficulty is roughly cut in half in most areas if you summon another player or two for help. There is only one place I can think of that pissed me off no matter what I did on all my playthroughs.
@phoenix1289: Even in a non-RPG where the extra stuff would require a new playthrough, I think it's a sign of publishers becoming aware of how people buy games now.
The players who are really excited for the game and buy it at $60 will probably be hardcore fans who will play the game more than once anyway.
The post-launch content tries to ensure that the people who are on the fence about it (like you) at least still buy the game later instead of forgetting or losing interest.
@ltjohnnyrico: It really exposes the fact that it's only non-players that are making negative comments. I rarely see anyone who has actually played the current builds complaining.
@games2525: As far as I'm concerned, the paying for ships and land is the only thing that lends credibility to the "scam" comments. It's like the ultimate dream of what EA and Activision would eventually want to do with all of their games. The actual game looks like it's making progress every time I see it.
