Do you have any antivirus software installed. If so, run a disk scan. If not download Spybot and run a check. Delete any malware found. If you do not have any antivirus software installed, uninstall Spybot, download and install free, Avast antivirus and run a disk scan.

Hope that helps.

I think you need to be more specific. Which game is the worst and what exactly happens.

Whatever you get, you should'nt get the 8600GT because for just a little more money, you will get significantly higher performance. Any of the other suggestions will be better.

Like Marfoo said, press F* during the boot and you should see in the menu an option to startup in VGA mode. If its avaialable and you select this option, then your laptop should start in a horrible 640x480 resolution mode, but at leasat you can see the screen and change it back to a compatible resoltuion. If you cant get into this mode then one other thing you can try is first of all check to see if you have a VGA output on the back. COnnect this to normal monitor and switch output to external monitor. Hopefully the external monitor will be able to handle th currently selected resolution, unless its set to something crazy like 2048x2048 at 200Hz or sumthin......

Check that there are not background tasks like limewire, deamon tools running or others. These could interfere with playing back from disk.

Yeh, your onboard graphics will require memory to work. Itwill take a specified (in the BIOS) amount of memory from your main memory (RAM) to use as video memory. You should get a discrete GFX card when possible because it will not only restore the diverted normal RAM , but will most likely also give you much improved performance as well.

Hmmmm.... I think you better check what model of motherboard you have got, before you start buying new CPUs. It will be really frustrating and disappointing for you if you find your new CPU is not compatible with your motherboard. You also run the risk of damaging components if they are incompatible.

Easiest thing is to make a shortcut for DX9 and DX10 vesrions, than you can also make a comparison.

Yeh. Get that 4870 first. That should give you a nice boost in performance. Ultimately, you will need to get a Core2 CPU(plus mb of course) to see probably a similar increase (or more)again in performance. Of course, changing motherboards and CPUs are going to be much more difficult than changing the GFX card. So try the GFX card first.

Good luck

Basically what it means is if your PSU doesnt have the relevant plug, then, on the motherboard, you can leave the connector that is covered as is. If your PSU has the extraplugs, then you can remove the cover on the connector on the motherboard and use that to plug into.Certain CPUs like the higherend Intel Core2s and Quadcores use lots of power and so, its recommeneded to use a PSU with the extra plugs to provide higher current flows. If you are in the position to purchase a new PSU, then you should go for one with the highest power rating that your budget will allow.
