He's not necessarily telling us to get rid of violence altogether. Developers just need to get involved with other things that could take our medium forward, things that still remain unexplored. That doesn't mean we'll have to get rid of deamons and terrorists!

You have to agree, most of developer resources are spent on making the game 'look' good, so that it's marketable. Pull up videos of any latest upcoming game, you'll see killer graphics, seamless animations and hollywood cutscenes, which isn't what makes games great, well at least not for me.Imagine what all developers could achieve with all those resources channeled into the right places. The man's got a point.
