K I think for now i will go for the 6600 due to the price. Maybe if the qx goes down significantly ill pick one up and take up overclocking ;).

Thanks a lot guys, as always the gamespot boards are so helpful!

LOL by no means am I rich. It is just time for me to buy a new gaming PC.

I purchased a motherboard that would support the qx9650, and I want a quad core processor for this pc, so would you recommend going for the q6600 and later if necessary upgrade (when the prices on the qx go down significantly)? I don't know about the performance differences on gfx card intensive games.

So I take it the 750 is not worth it unless you like burning money for warmth?

I just want to make sure i'm not gimping myself by buying less than the standard.

Hey guys,

I've got most of the stuff for my new PC at my house and i'm ready to build it, but I have only one question:

Would you recommend I get the Q6600 or the QX9650 (which is like $750 more)? Would the QX9650 be a significant gaming increase to warrant the price?

60 degrees idle? :(

Is there anything that is more effective? I am not so much concerned about the price (150 is my budget) but I want performance in case I ever overclock.

Any other suggestions?

Hello all :).

I need recommendations on the absolute best CPU (non-liquid) cooler under $150 for the new Yorkfield Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9650 that would fit in the nvidia edition Cooler Master Stacker 830 Evolution case.

Please help me out as I know nothing about CPU cooling solutions.

Thanks!

Components wise, I checked it out and i thought this was a good deal. I want a new pc soon, and with this stuff overclocked I think it will give great performance.

I meant for the money, with the stuff available now, did I get a good price?
