[QUOTE="Neo_revolution7"]

rofl speaking of that imac build i think that is the one my friend purchased what an idiot. :lol: he spoke of having a 5750 and a 1080p monitor.

Urworstnhtmare

If he did purchase the 2grand iMac:

1. 2560x1440 is higher than 1080p

2. The two builds use roughly the same parts and come out at roughly the same price...

so you mean to tell me you would pay k for a monitor and skimp on the gpu? makes no sense to me.

Ok. If you really think Macs (iMacs in particular) are overpriced:

iMac

2.8GHz Intel Core i5

2560-by-1440 resolution

4GB (two 2GB) memory

1TB hard drive

ATI Radeon HD 5750

$1999.00

Desktop:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119195

HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136534

Video Card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161309

PSU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139004

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231277

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115067

Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128412

OS: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116754

Desktop = $823.91

Dell UltraSharp U2711 27' Monitor.

Monitor = $1099.00

iMac equivilent desktop = 1922.91

+ Stereo speakers + Wireless Mouse + Wireless Keyboard + Webcam...

Well that pretty much sinks the theory that all Macs are overpriced doesn't it....

RAM is expensive... didn't you know :lol:

Apple overcharge because they can. Their customers are mostly suckers, hippies, and computer illiterates.

Tezcatlipoca666

being that said...a friend of mine from work just brought an imac with a 5750 i don't even want to know how much he paid let alone its only to play W.o.W...

[QUOTE="FelipeInside"]

That's what I meant, he doesn't need to.

Just use one 580 until games start lagging, then just get a brand new card on the high end....

ATLReppa770

Read what you quoted... He's not getting it now, but "down the road somewhere."

As for the topic at hand, the Rampage III Formula is directed for only the most extreme overclockers and enthusiasts. Unless your friend is a hardcore bencher, or just adamant about getting the highest clocks possible on his processor, the Sabertooth X58 should be more than enough for his needs.

Yeah, thanks. I knew the Sabertooth would have been the better choice. I'm going to replace the motherboard on the list in a few. Oh, and I almost forgot, he wants to get a 120Hz (3D) monitor at about 27" (23.6, if we can't find a 27" available). And, I know using 3D will double the frames, so that's why I suggested a second 580. Right now, all we have left to get is the processor and RAM. I don't know much about Intel processors, as I said before, so which is the best at or under $450?

under 450 i will say 950 but the 930 clocks just as well.
