i wouldnt recommend watercoolers.

superclocked

Have you used one? The performance increases of my C2D and 560 Ti were very nice on liquid. I increased my CPU speed by 50%.. C2D e8400 - 3.0GHz stock C2D e8400 - 3.6GHz 24/7 running frequency on air (Scythe Mugen and 2x 130cfm fans) C2D e8400 - 4.5GHz 24/7 running frequency on liquid (D-Tek Fuzion II waterblock, dual 115v pumps, dual radiators) And the liquid cooling system will carry over into my future builds, so that makes it well worth the price IMO...

it honestly is the only thing i realy see replacing is the gpu block if the 680's are what they are supposed to be :).

ur build seems pretty good alreay. personally I would wait one generation to rezlly open the gap. where is it letting you down?

ionusX

there some games i am forced to play on medium or that if i decided to get id be playing on medium due to gpu limitations. i also think my ram is starting to die (got a BSOD not too long ago.. it could also be an HDD faliure as its just as old but ive made preperations for that and have a pre-price hike 500 gb WD caviar black waiting her demise).

so the things im on the fence about i plan on doing anyway eventually im just wondering if i should do one of them now and if so which.

id upgrade your gpu first, unless....your ram or hdd fail first.

I'm getting excited as i'm ordering my new parts from newegg as I find deals on them.

So far i've purchased 16 gigs DDR3 G.Skill memory (1866), 750 watt Corsair modular power supply, 240 gig Corsair SSD and saw the Corsair 650D on sale so picked that up as well.

I'm holding out for Ivy Bridge and I'm hoping that it comes out soon. I can't wait to assemble this beast.

Tailwar

Are you going to be overclocking this beast of a machine??

Whoop the 580 came about an hour ago and so far im totaly happy with it :D im getting roughly 2x the performance i got from the 460.

Anyone know what these overclock to safely its a MSI twin Frozr2 (gtx580 obviously) without touching volts.

jonleeprice

I've heard of quite a few people hitting 900MHz on stock volts. It really depends on the card though, so YMMV. My current cards (4850's) can only handle a mere ~60-70 MHz boost at stock volts while remaining stable, but my last card, a G92 8800GTS, was able to handle a ~175MHz overclock perfectly on stock volts.

And congrats on the upgrade by the way; that's quite a good upgrade from a GTX 460.

Tnx mate, dunno whether to sell the 460 for around £80 on ebay or keep it and make a small gaming pc for my kid :/

id keep it for that a second pc or back up.

no need to be polite about anything ionusx, this man is stepping on your turf, you need to stand your ground and show him who's boss.

Also about the article itself, its great news for gamers and enthusiasts. I can smell a price war coming :D

It's a nice case, but it's incredibly big. If you're having trouble with space, it should most definitely solve your problems.

However, should you want to go for a more cost-effective option, check out the Xigmatek Elysium or the Enermax Fulmo GT/Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra.

EDIT: Here's a picture with a regular ATX board in the Cosmos II. As you can see, there's plenty of room for an E-ATX:

i am interested in this case i'm just hoping i do not need to mod anything to fit my 360 rad up top everything else seems perfect though.

Hi guys. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to overclocking but I think I managed to get my CPU running at 4.0Ghz stable. I've ran IntelBurn stress test a few times and seems stable so far. Does this look okay or do I need to change anything? Oh I forgot to add at idle temps are at 37 degrees and at full load temps are at 57 degrees. I'm using a Cooler Master Hyper 212+ in a NZXT Lexa S case with push/pull config.

CPU Details

TheNagaMoris

impressive cpu you got there :D

The 480 is a great card - anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

ionusX

okay it scarfs power, stock fan is noisy as a ---- and the heat it generates can cook an egg in 2 hours

but yet when i had the stock hsf on it highest temps i saw were 70c? let alone now with my WC i barley gover over 45c on load yea... i'm pretty sure it can cook an egg

80C is pretty good for a multi-GPU overclocked setup.

Postmortem123

maybe on your standards maybe 70c is more do able.
