[QUOTE="New-Gamer"]

I'm midway through act 5. The scene with the suicide gekkos = crap textures. Not a big deal, it's not like you have time to notice.

Adrian_Cloud

:| I just finished ACt 4................................................... :( spoilers. Anyhow this game has incredible polish, the textures are mismatch in my opinion. From far away they look phenomenal, and then when you very closely its as good as before. But in Act 3 it really changed my opinion of the game, just because the devs aren't trying to make the normal mapping pop out, and they chose not too add that whole "next-gen bloom" thing in Act 2. The over-all package looks amazing, and in any game you can nitpick at the smaller things.

lol I don't think people will put 2 and 2 together with the suicide gekkos. I've tried really hard to not say any specific names for what happens in the later acts. I'm just happy that the final act didn't get spoiled for me yet or by a review or by Kojima with his trailers.

I agree MGS4 really is a game you have to nitpick to point out it's short comings. The only thing I find myself rolling my eyes at is the games sometimes laborious cutscenes. I mean, there have been times when I'm just thinking, reall, how the hell? They just get really over the top. Overall, it's amazing, but geez. Maybe I need to free my mind and go to fantasyland for some of this stuff.

[QUOTE="allnamestaken"]I agree, who's up for some PDZ?! skrat_01

Ugh agreed. I even own the game and think its terrible (for a supposed aaa game).

though overall the 360 is a better system next to the PS3, though yes the PS3 has a beast of an exclusive....

Yeah, I totally got PDZ with my 360 and it's pretty horrid I will admit. I guess maybe the game gets better, I never made it past the second level. MGS4 is a total beast, but it doesn't nullify every game advantage that the 360 has by far. There are many gaming experiences that you just can't have on the PS3.

LOL Halo Haters. In all seriousness, I just got a PS3 and I expect this game to do a faceplant. I would be highly surprised if it doesn't

Does anyone know if the cutscenes are CGI or in-engine, maybe thats why it filled up a blu-ray diskcrispytheone88

They are in-engine it seems, because many of them convert directly into gameplay. There are a number of big reasons it filled up the Blu-ray disc. One of them is uncompressed audio which I have deemed useless. I have optical 5.1 Dolby setup and the sound is great for a game, but no better than one with compressed audio. It was a big waste of space. Also, we don't know if Kojima used data padding or not. Data padding is when the developer duplicates data on the blu-ray to counteract the PS3s slow disc read rate.

I think so. There is way more hype surrounding Flopzone 2, after that fake E3 video several years back. Sure, Flopzone 1 was unofficially billed as the PS2's "Halo Killer", but only the most zealous fanboys really believed that it would, given the hardware limitions. Now, with the PS3, you supposedly have the most powerful, advanced machine available, so there will be no excuse when Flopzone 2 inevitably flops.

rlake

They followed the same hype tactics with Killzone 1 and that killed it. TEH HALO KILLAR!!!!!!!!! BIGGER THAN THE MEGATONNNNE!

the overall picture is good but the textures suck big time...

daveg1

Yep, the graphic designers for MGS4 know how to make crap textures look good. I feel like very little of the game is really high rez, when I play it. Do I care? Not at all. I think technically GEOW 2 or KZ2 will be more of a feat. Some parts of MGS4 really wow me though like the chase scenes.

What I know will be announced

Some Nintendo franchise, Mario, Metroid, Zelda etc. Not a new IP

What I want:

New games for the 360 and PS3, the kind that make me happy for buying them. We really don't know much about 2009, so this should be a great opportunity to see some new stuff. I'd like to see Alan Wake, Duke Nukem Forever, and a new Max Payne too.

Ok 3rd boss

The 1st one in Act 4 is tough, atleast i dont know what to do at this point. ANybody got suggestions?jg4xchamp

Either buy the Mosin Nagant Rifle. It's a tranq rifle and put it down or use a regular rifle. Use Night Vision Solid Eye. In the opening cutscene of the battle it shows the enemy looking at you with Night Vision and seeing you perfectly through everything that is going on.

[QUOTE="New-Gamer"]They are talking about the industry as a whole. Most development firms don't see the money in PC gaming exclusivity. They see two next gen consoles with room to grow and quickly growing user bases. I don't think PC devs are jumping ship for the Wii, but for 360 and PS3 almost certainly. Jeff and Ryan were simply pointing that out. I don't think they ever used to words die or dying at all to describe the state of PC gaming. I think in the future we will see exclusives for PC few and far between.AdrianWerner

Actualy it's the other way around. Most development firms see money only in PCgaming, that;'s the only way they can survive. Surving as a developer on console market is near impossible.

So in the future we'll see more and more PC exclusives

Signs are pointing to no on that one. Have you read the news on Kotaku and Gamespot lately? It seems that many PC devs are having massive layoffs and changing tracks to develop for 360 and PS3. Maybe small firms will develop for PC to avoid paying publishing costs. Bigger companies will stay clear of PC for it isn't where the cash is.
