This didn't happen to me but I heard a story where some kid was being annoying on the COD:WAW zombie map Shi No Numa, which has an achievement where you must reach Level 15 without going down. On Level 14, someone, perhaps purposely, turned on the electrical barrier while he was under it, downing him.

Just about a year ago, I was going for Perkaholics Anonymous, the COD:WAW achievement in which you must reach Level 20 without buying any one of the four perks. On Round 19, just needing to survive that last level before the achievement, two players go down. Then the last teammate I have goes, and it's up to me, the only one left to revive him. Get this: I actually got him up, but was downed just as I did so. Unfortunately, the game calculated there was at least an instant that we were both down, and the game was over. Thankfully, a couple weeks later, a skilled friend of mine did it alone with me and I got a handful of achievements, including P Anonymous.

While I agree that using cheats just to get through a game is completely pathetic. I do like the idea of using it after you've finished the game and have already played the hell out of it since it can open up new glitches, abilities, and just new experiences that would never be possible in the regular game without the added cheating technology. My best example is using a GameShark back in the day to reach the mysterious island in the Dam level from Goldeneye.

Yep, also the "Destroy almost everything" GameShark code in Goldeneye, that's the one I remember most fondly. But yes as the above people have stated I would never cheat to beat the game, but after beating the game to add replay value to be able to go back through levels with unique exploits. Like say in GTA IV make every car an Infernus going 100 km/h or more on every street and watch them pile up.

Ahhh, the good old days, using a GameShark to blow up everything in Goldeneye 007 and give me all the cheat codes in the game. Just imagine what it could have been like for today's Xbox 360 games notably Red Dead, MW2, and the like. Only thing, how could they not have achievements if you cheated?

As the months passed since the show ended back in February, I began to come up with questions to submit for Community Written rounds, but refrained from doing so amid rising pessimism the show wasn't going to come back. Some times it is not a good idea to be overly optimistic.

Ok it's a bad idea... they could do something more along the lines of having to do the achievement on a certain day like the 7th day of the month in Halo 3. Or perhaps make it so you have to beat Black Ops within a say three-day period but that it could be started at any time, not necessarily on launch day.

I was thinking along the lines of there being an achievement for being one of the first X amount of players to complete a game, or complete the game within a certain time period, say COD: Black Ops when it comes out. My examples are 50G for completing Black Ops within one week of release, or 50G for being among the first 250,000 to complete it. I know this could perhaps anger some gamers but it could provide a slight boost for launch day sales. Discuss...

It's nearly impossible to play Xbox LIVE on dial-up, though you can get it to work I suppose by bridging connections from your laptop. But to go through all that trouble just to have an unplayable version of Xbox LIVE (there is a minimum MTU that you need to connect btw), it may still not work. If you have dial-up, you might as well stock up on single player games.

They all say Wal-Mart connections but I like to call them ValuNet connections - a play on the airline whose Flight 592 crashed into the Florida Everglades in May 1996. ValuJet (which ValuNet is taken from) was a low-cost airline notorious for its shoddy safety records, emergency landings, cabin fires, and ultimately, the everglades crash. P.S. I would think that if Wal-Mart in fact did sell broadband internet services they wouldn't be that bad after all. I mean Wal-Mart sells Xbox 360 games, so if you think Wal-Mart means overly cheap, why doesn't it simply sell used original Xbox or even N64 games and not even bother retailing the newest games (and consoles too!)

NightFire had only 12 missions but it had by far and wide the best local multiplayer of any game that has come out. From its release in November 2002 for about three years onward it was a staple for whenever I'd be with friends playing GameCube with me. EON was good for its campaign but I never really found people to do the co-op missions with, and did not offer that much in the way of competitive multiplayer.
