[QUOTE="Ace6301"]As it is now I would say the PS3 is probably the closest to the PC at the moment. UC2 looks amazing (not as good as Crysis of course but it gives quite a few other great looking PC games a run for their money) and it's online is comparable to the PC as both primarily use dedicated servers and don't charge additional fees for online access. At this current time I would say the power of the CPU is more important than the power of the GPU in making a great game. BrownesqueUm, no, the CPU is absolutely not more important than the power of the GPU in making a great game. Last time I checked games haven't been rendered by the CPU for ten years. The Playstation 3 doesn't have your common every day CPU, it's more like a CPU-GPU hybrid and that's why it's so capable at rendering graphics. Compare that to the PC market where the CPU is more or less the same as it ever was but GPU's are taking over with on-board physics acceleration and pseudo-CPU functions.
No matter how you put it, GPU's can only be as powerful as the CPU.
If the CPU isnt there to back up the power, how can the GPU have enough power to do what its supposed to do.
Its like trying to build a giant skyscraper without a support beam.
[QUOTE="bunchofpixels"][QUOTE="Willy105"]For PC's, gaming is just a side feature, not a serious application like game consoles. It's like saying cellphone games are competing with home consoles, except with PC's, they are technologically superior to game consoles.Willy105Most people dont have a PC that can compete with the power of a PS3 or 360. Exactly. Because they can't dish out the cash to get a good PC. Just like the PS3 when it was like 600 dollars. I can't put down that type of money either.

Sims 3 and Spore. Nuff said
Yet they were both very successful. One pirated game doesn't mean a lost sale. Most likely they weren't planning on buying the game in the first place.
If they could only understand it that way there wouldn't be an issue. Of course. No one pirated game means losing money. But its 1,000+ pirated that makes a difference. Its not that THEY need to see it this way, WE need to see it this way. But then again, who ever said everyone has to care?
