Hello,

I just bought a Sony Lcd and a Sony Home Theater System and have a Comcast Motorola HD-DVR. I am not getting any surround sound from the PS3 or the cable box unlessI force it with an option to have the front L,R play out the same sound in the Rear R, Rear L. I am using a HDMI cable for the cable box and PS3. My cable box on the HD channels have the Dobly Digital 2, 5.1, and other symbols – varies on channels. I also have a digital audio out cable running form the TV to the receiver. I will get surround sound from DVD's. I contacted Sony and this was the response they gave me below.

Dear MR ---------

Thank you for contacting Sony.

Discrete surround sound will only play on DVD movies; all other input will
only play on stereo surround sound.

I don't understand what they are saying.

Doesn't the PS3 have 5.1 on games?

How come HD channels with the 5.1 symbol do not have surround sound?

Your right I have spent way more on my 360 than my PS3. reason why.... way more decent games on 360.

ps3 system plus 4 games = roughly $800 (bought it on release date.)who cares about bluy ray. that is old technology. New technology is Media Players, Play movies off of a hard drive.

360 system + 20 games = roughly $1400

OMG seriously?! ps3 plus 4 games=you get MGS4 bundle(so basically w/ the game) and about 4 more so maybe, KZ2, LBP, FFXIII versus, heck id even pick up NARUTO ... 20 games and a GOOD 360 system is around $1400?? you way too much my friend... stop wasting your parents hard earned money... aside from gears(igottaadmit) and halo(whatwiththehype), you got about 15more par games(including multiplat games)... your not even counting your XBL annual online bill... do the math.. REALLY, please stop wasting your parents hard-earned money, if you even earned it yourself, buy a life.

It was a rough estimate and hello games are $60. I buy games on release date so in essence $60 times 20 = $1200. Let me guess you are still in school. Also I $1400 is nothing for me when you make alot of money. I just pissed $1000 down in Vegas over the weekend. You think I care. It is called one days of work. I am in the insurance business and I get paid if I work or I dont. It is called residual monthly income. As long as my clients are happy and dont call me and stay on the same plan which they usually do for years. I get paid commisions. I sometimes golf during the day too.

hell they're praising it right now before the public has even touched it. if it becomes a flop, it will defy almost every statement the PS3 fanboys have said. LBP has been their scape goat for countless bashing threads toward the PS3, and you always see the line "Well at least PS3 has LBP" thats like asking "Why do you say vulgar things on online gamees?" and the person replies "1st amendment B****!". it's a crock of s***....

Just like when the PS3 fanboys were praisng Dragon Lair, GT, and Haze before they were released. after that no more talk except for wait until Home comes out or Killzone. and that was about a year ago. Still no home or Killzone rel;eased on the Delaystation 3.
