"Alrighty, so firstly I'm not here to start a religious debate. I'm here to discuss and hear your opinions on this matter. I'm talking about the Christian bible and it's prophecy's on the end of the world. I'm Christian and I believe that everything in the Bible is true" Stopped right thereX360PS3AMD05Does your post contribute anything? No. So why bother posting? :roll:

Hey all. :)
I think I need a new avy and sig. Feel free to do whatever you like, as long as it has something to do with my username. :P
Thanks.
You know, you really shouldn't post pictures of yourself on the internet.Jesus was not human

How can we reply to this topic without religious debate?optiowEasily, seeing as a lot of other people replied without any form of debate.

Because it still seemed too close a time span. And I can honestly say I randomly chose the time span I chose. To futher inform you on the point I'm trying to make, from 1800 - 1900 there were 18 major earthquakes, between 1900 and 1950 there were 33. Between 1950 and 2000 there was about 90 or so. This is my last post because I have to leave now.

Yes, I'm sure our ability to effectively measure the magnitude of an earthquake was as good in 1800 as it is today.
The earthquakes mentioned are major ones, ones that caused damage and etc.Wrote it myself using the interwebs.Did you write this yourself or copy/paste it? It seems like it was written over 10 years ago.

Because choosing 1990 - 2000 seemed like too close a time span, so instead I chose 1890 - 1900.[QUOTE="NiteLights"]
[QUOTE="GabuEx"]
Of all the spans of time in the world, why do you choose 1890-1900? I'm curious.
GabuEx
Well, why not choose 1950-1965, during which time span the world managed to have earthquakes of magnitudes 9.5, 9.2, 9.0, 8.7, 8.6, 8.6, and 8.5? Why specifically choose a completely random time of span whose only property seems to be that it was relatively seismically inactive? (Never mind the fact that one of the most famous earthquakes in US history, the San Francisco quake, conveniently took place only 6 years after your time span elapses.)

Not I, or anyone can guarantee we are in the end times, but we can discuss it. Those verses aren't written down for nothing, they are basically warnings. And with your second point, which I highlighted in bold, did we have as many false prophets back then as we do now? No. Did we always have a war of some kind going on? No. But thank you for sharing your opinion. We didn't have as many false prophets because back then we didn't have any prophets; Christianity was a very small and unpopular religion in its beginnings. When they became popular in, oh, the third century or so, then false prophets popped up everywhere. But yes we did have wars going on, all the time. The Apostles (and probably the writers of the Gospels) believed that they lived in the End Times. Even Jesus said that their generation wouldn't pass before the end of the world came (Mat. 24:34). And the best-fitting end-times scenario was during the reign of Nero Caesar, who just so happened to be emperor during the Apostles' lifetimes (look him up if you wonder why they would have believed he was the antichrist). There have been wars, catastrophes, and natural disasters far greater than what we are currently experiencing. World War 2? People thought Hitler was the Antichrist and that that was the end of the world. And if the world were to end, something like World War 2 would be a far better fit for it than a couple of wars in the Middle East and an earthquake in Japan. Yeah, I get what you mean. Well I've got to go, otherwise I would be writing a better post than I am now. :P Thank you for sharing your opinion on the matter by the way.[QUOTE="Theokhoth"]It never fails; every single time this topic comes up, everyone posts Matthew verses while ignoring Matthew 24:36: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.We are not living in the End Times anymore than we were eleven, a thousand, or two thousand years ago, and unless you want to claim you know more than Jesus Christ, there's no really no controverting this fact.Theokhoth
