[QUOTE="amirbrandon"] Bah, what a sacrifice.amirbrandon

Could your hunger possibly wait when playing your DS? That way you don't have to worry about such things as getting tiny crumbs into the speaker.

Jokes, bud. JOKES. :)

Bad joke, then. After reading the posts here, I thought you were just an id- er... Not smart person...

[QUOTE="meiaman"][QUOTE="TD913"]I know that WPA is more secure than WEP, but not as fast. I have WPA. Would it be safe if I switched it to WEP when I wanted to play online and switched it back when I was done? I have a mac so there is a drop down menu that allows me to do this easily. Thanks in advance.ColdfireTrilogy

Yeah, there is a speed difference, WPA takes more time of the connection because of the encryption method, maybe the difference is not huge enough to be noticeable, but it does exist. Well, i guess its safe to play online using WEP and trade back later, or even better you can play only using WEP. As WEP and WPA stuff can only be hacked if the hacker is inside the same wi-fi hotspot area that you are using. People often mistake what the WEP and WPA security is for. Is basically to protect your wi-fi hotspot (either a wireless router or something else) from people to hi-jack, use it and share weird files (if sharing is enabled) without you know. With that said, if you live on USA, no one from Japan or any other place of the world can hi-jack wireless connection. (however they can still send viruses and worms like any normal cable connection). In other worlds, if you`re using it at home, WPA is only really necessary if you think that your neighbhours are capable of stealing/leeching your connection without you knowing or that some weirdos usually hang out around your house with notebooks. Why WPA and WEP is over discussed and very often looked? Simple, by business that use wi-fi to communicate their computers or public wi-fi hotspots. A hacker that can hack WEP (its easier to hack than WPA) can enter in their servers and do some real damage. The only problem is that they discuss this with so much worry that they forget to explain this little detail to people, they just say that WPA is safer without explaining why and if you even should trouble using it.

WARDRIVING, this means some dude driving around in a truck using bruteforce programs along with packet sniffers to easily crack first generation WPA and all WEP either 64 or 128 bit within a minute or two. Id say leave it on WPA 2 when you can and if you need to use your DS only switch to WEP WPA1 when you need it.

What kinda neighborhood do you live in? A litte paranoid aren't we?

I think The Conduit has a lot more going for it than people realize. Maybe it won't revolutionize the genre like Goldeneye did, but I think it's going to show why the Wii should be the number-1 console for FPS. The amazing controls, the top notch graphics, and the online multiplayer will show just what the Wii is capable of doing. It might not be a step forward for the genre, but it will be a milestone for the Wii console.

clicketyclick

Let's just hope it doesn't turn out like GTA did for DS.

The best game for the system (and arguably the genre)? Why wouldn't you want that?!?!

IGN liked it, and it seems that if you have friends, you'll like this game.

WAIW

They were running short on time when they added these features, so I'm just glad they got them in there. They'll probably fix any problems in the future.

[QUOTE="Raiko101"]

I didn't mean in it in that exact context, but I mean the technical advances wont encourage that many gamers to make the switch to the DSi. Anyways, I think new DS games will help sell the DSi, but not to those casuals who already own a DS, I don't think it'll do anything for them. Gaming not being their strongest interest, I can't see them paying what the did for the DS again for the DSi. That is unless some camera specific game is released and really creates a buzz like Brain Training did.

As well, I never personally saw the DS as a stop gap between GameBoys. Being hyped around the same time as the PSP gave the impression that the two consoles would be going head to head for some time. That and the leap was the biggest Nintendo Handheld leap in my opinion. The two screens, one of them being a touch screen, and the fact they were boasting 3D gaming on par with the N64. I just see that as a huge leap. The leap between the DS and DSi is more comparable to the GameBoy and GameBoy Colour. Fair enough the Colour had an exlusive library of games and lasted 3 years, but compared to the lifespan of the original GameBoy it didn't last long did it? Come to think of it, the GameBoy Advance only lasted 3 years as well. And now I don't remember where I was trying to go with all this lol.

I guess I just don't believe the technical leap of the DSi can make it stand out as it's own console. I see it rather as an extension of the original DS concept. Much like the GBA SD is to the GBA and the GBC was to the GameBoy. It may have a few exclusives, though most likely making simple use of the camera features, but I can't see it being expanded upon more than that. Maybe there will be a collection of downloadable games and applications, but that'll surely be to used to attract more casual gamers who are considering getting an iPhone, regardless of what Nintendo are saying.

Raiko101

1. The DSi is not and never will be a new system

2. DSi games won't just be regular DS game that use the camera. That makes NO SENSE AT ALL(seriously,NONE AT ALL!!!!). As stated in another thread, they'll have better textures, more objects, better sound quality, better physics/AI, and better animations. Considering the DSi's potential, making silly camera games would be a waste of time and money. They'll most likely be greater in qualitybut few in numbers.

3. Just becausesome people won't be able to play DSi games, it doesn't mean that devs will only make simple games that aren't worth anyone's time just so the minority won't get angry.

There's a few more things, but I don't feel like explaining...

Your second point just sounds like wishful thinking, which to be fair is only trying to counter my cynisism. We'll get nowhere arguing, but what the hell? Sure the DSi has this little extra power, but unless the majority of gamers put down their DS and pick up a DSi it doesn't mean anything. You don't need a faster processor to improve AI or physics. As some one studying Game Development at University I can tell you that first hand. Sure it can help a more powerful game engine run smoother, but a simple enough solution just takes some decent game logic and a good programmer to sort both of those issues out. Then you have to consider what sorts of physics advancment you really need for a handheld console that compares to the original Playstation and N64. How many DS games out there can you really improve on and why would they sell any better as a result? That and then you have the obvious reason the the extra processing power, which is there to support the camera and the game at the same time.

At the minute, and quite unlike darth psychosis, you sound like you're defending something with wishful thinking, which is both near impossible and a waste of time. Fair enough i'm attacking something with cynisism, but it's always better to expect the worst and be pleasantly suprised rather that expect it all and be massively disapointed. If the DSi ever becomes worthwhile, which at the minute it isnt, then it would have proved me wrong itself. It doesn't need defending from people who can only argue potential and possibilities.

Sorry about my tone in this message, but I saw your signature and took personal offence.

Maybe I should stop putting insults in my sig... Ah, whatever. You shouldn't take any offense to my sigs since they're always insults and mean nothing.

Anyways, that last paragraph is exactly what I'm thinking. I'm expecting the worst and if something happens, then that'sGREAT!! But if nothing happens, then I don't care because I wasn't expecting too much anyways. I felt it wasnecessary to attempt to prove youwrong out of habit. I don't really care what happens. All I really want is a simple action game and Moving Memo. Once both happen, I'll be perfectly fine.

P.S. About the physics thing, you seem to have misundertood what I meant. Then again, I can't blame you because I was vague and didn't use the right words. Oh, well...

They have long loading times and if they are damaged in any way, they are useless.

NO VOICE ACTING FOR LINK!!!!!!!

As for everyone else, they had better get some people who know how to act.

I think the perfect person for Ganondorf who be the guy who played Col. Tigh in Battlestar Galactica, his" FRAK" sound like what Ganon would do if he attacked.

reinchester

That same thought passed through my mind as well...

No, of course not. I'll only quote and disagree with someone who comes off as one. Anyways, my sigs are always insults that suggest indifference to others' problems or everyone being an idiot. They should not be taken seriously.
