One more thing dude, when buying an HDMI cable if your staying 6 feet or under with the cable length,I would buy like a $40 Phillips HDMI cable,,If your going over 6 feet with the cable length then I would buy one of Monster cables $100 HDMI cables.

I would look for a tv that supports 1080P,cuz the PS3 does a fabulous job at 1080P. I have a 1080P tv and hooked up the PS3via HDMI,,,,and for 1080P lots of tv,s only support 1080P via HDMI,,some tvs support 1080P by both component and HDMI but I suggest finding a 1080P tv that fits your budget and hook up the PS3 via HDMI. Try FRY electronics,Best Buy and/or Circuit City to name a few.

I have a 30 inch Samsung HDTV and have had the same problem your having,,its not the 360 or PS3 its Samsung,,the only thing you can do is call there customer support. I really hope its under warranty,,and just for the record Im on my 2nd Samsung and its worse then the first. But I hope they can get you fixxed up and if they offer you to sell you an extended warranty I would buy it.

You might be able to format the picture in your tv to get rid of the black bars. Does your tv have like a pic size button or maybe in the options of your tv.

Try and spend around 40 bucks for HDMI cables that are 6 feet and under. If you are going over 6 feet then I would say buy the 100 dollar Monster cables
