That's probably because you don't have your own kids. If you did, you wouldn't want anyone like that guy next to them. Take my word. And nowadays you never know.
Well, judging by the comment thread, the review isn't gonna stop anyone from buying the actual game. In fact it does exactly the opposite - attracts even more attention to the Last of Us.
DS has left me in awe I haven't experienced ever since the 90s, and those were the revolutionary times, when devs were really able to innovate. To me there's nothing quite like DS in terms of the depth of its mechanics and atmosphere. In my book it's one of the greatest games ever hands down. As for the overall tech quality, let's just say that there sure was some place for improvement (Blighttown leg problem, the "half-assed" PC port, etc). I have high hopes that DSII will be better in this regard. It's kinda sad that so many gamers are missing out on a rare chance to experience something of this caliber. Is it just me or the media has blown the difficulty issue out of all proportion? Once a game is a bit mentally-challenging and requires patience it automatically becomes unforgiving, merciless, you name it. Or perhaps other games are made way too dumbed down and easy in order to satisfy the casual gamer's tastes.
Well, to each his own. It might not be your cup of tea, but for those of us, who are fed up with casual dumbed down IPs, the Souls series has definitely been a breath of fresh air.
I just saw a 12 min demo of DS II and I got to say that I'm on cloud nine. The video leaves no doubt, the game is gonna stick to the hardcore roots of the series. Which is all I need to know. At first I wasn't really inclined to watch the whole thing but you guys made me change my mind. I've got to say I enjoyed every second of it. Way to go.
