Am I the only one on here who doesn't give a damn what gender the main character is? As long as a game's solid everything else is just details. No need to blow the issue out of all proportion. I sure agree with you.
I just saw your reply so here goes...You got that right but not quite:-) Check this page out http://www.gamespot.com/tomb-raider-1996/ It's a good old read on that epic game.
Well, I've played through all of them and I've got to say that TR 3 was the most challenging hands down. The confusing level design and merciless difficulty of that game was really something else.
Believe it or not, but an 8.5 is actually the highest score any game of the series has ever gotten from Gamespot (except for the first one, of course). That's a good sign in my book.
This game is an absolute legend that revolutionized the genre at that time. It's nothing less than epic and mesmerising in so many ways. Although I agree on the conrols being clunky, I must say that you would have had a much better experience if you had used a gamepad and taken some time to get a handle on the TR's mechanics.
It sure seems like an awesome adventure is heading our way. As I see it the industry desperately needs a friendly kick in the right direction, as the games we play nowadays are clichéd and lacking story-wise for the most part. Let's all hope it's about to change any time soon.
Thanks for the well-written article by the way, Laura. Keep up the good work!
Nowadays devs would do literally anything to expand their target audience. So, there's nothing to be surprised about. They also might wanna consider using a new main theme...I hear "Gangnam style" is getting more popular by the day.
That's an interesting choice. I'd better reserve my judgement, since I haven't played Journey yet. Is this the first time when an indie game has beaten huge titles?
