Would you have preferred if Crytek just made the entire game 2d like the first Wolfenstein, with absolutely no image quality enhancements that you could take advantage of later just so you could run it at "max settings." Max settings is just something people that care too much about their own e-ego whine about. Did you maybe think that perhaps Crytek made it so max settings *weren't able to be easily done using current hardware? You know, so that maybe if you ever played this game in the future, when you had better hardware, the game would STILL look amazing even then?
Really, as long as the core gameplay remains intact, and the visuals you are getting in the game are still amazing (not terrible for the framerate you're getting) why even complain? The only valid complaints are that the minimum requirements to run the game well are indeed very high or that the visuals aren't worth the massive FPS hit due to bad optimization. God forbid game developers actually take advantage of newer hardware and actually make technical advancements. Nope, we can't have any of that!
"Playing a game as complex on Spore on a PS3/360 would be impossible. At least on the Wii it will be tolerable"
I don't know, personally I'd rather move around with an analog stick instead of clicking/using the arrow keys.

Impossible OMG some one call 911
I was misquoted there. Note my original post never said impossible, I said it'd be a chore. Knowing what Will Wright's games are like (Simcity, the Sims), they are chock full of little sub-menus allowing you to tweak every conceivable option, it just seems to be like it would be incredibly annoying going through all those menus with an analogue stick and a few controller buttons. Of course, you could just disable all those menus and have the game play itself, but that would pretty much take away the whole point of it being an actual game rather than simply an evolution simulator.
Now of course, I only say this under the assumption that the wii version of Spore won't be completely different (i.e. streamlined). If it is, then what I just said really means nothing, other than that the wii will obviously get a game lacking the overall depth of the PC version of Spore. I just hope they dont' go about stripping away options from both versions to appease wii players.
OH MY GAWD GUYZ, I CANT RUNZ TEH CRYYSIS AT TEH MAX SETTINGZ.
Seriously, that argument is so incredibly retarded. You know, so that maybe if you ever played this game in the future, when you had better hardware, the game would STILL look amazing even then? Really, as long as the core gameplay remains intact, and the visuals you are getting in the game are still amazing (and not totally killing your frame rate) why even complain? The only valid complaint is that the minimum requirements to run the game well are indeed very high, but god forbid game developers actually take advantage of newer hardware and actually make technical advancements. Nope, we can't have any of that!
