I understand GameSpot is primarily a gaming site, so I can understand why pretty much all the boards here are gaming related - but I think it would be pretty cool to branch out a bit - and something I'd love to see if a Music board. GameFaqs Music: Rock board is one of the few reasons I log into GameFaqs as opposed to sticking around here on GameSpot (the other being the fact that the GameFaqs topics on game specific boards don't update properly here). Anyway, put simply, a music board would be nice (or even just merge with the GameFaqs board like you have with game specific boards and have it available here on GameSpot).

And to answer your question, the reason I'd like to see this as opposed to just posting on them seperately is simply because GameFaqs Music: Rock board is quite slow. Plus it'd be nice to have it within the same community.

I left up all the ones that I vehemently disagree with.

Knocking on Heaven's Door is one of the few instances where I think the Dylan original is better than the cover. I much prefer Dylan's melancholic mumble over Axl's squawk.

I don't think anyone does The Who better than The Who. You're actually the first person I've ever seen who prefers Elton's Pinball Wizard over The Who's.

And Drowning Pool is pretty awful, no matter what song they're doing.

I've never liked Dylans voice, so I'm probably going to lean towards any cover really over Dylans recordings. I'm also a huge GnR fan, so that's another reason I selected their cover. And while I like The Who, I'd much prefer Rush - their entire cover album was great IMO. And I'm not a huge Drowning Pool fan, but I do like Billy Idol, and the cover just grew on me. It's a harder version of a song I love. (good to see this topic finally getting some discussion going. A music board would be nice :))
