AC3 is coming from a well established franchise with a history of being good to millions of players. If a brand new IP from a lead creator with no big name game on his resume, I doubt this kind of steel book bonus would cause a wave of pre-orders. There is nothing wrong with gamers supporting their favorite franchises for free bonuses. The issues in the pre-order system are someplace else. It's all about retailers each getting a different bonus for pre-orders. It creates an environment where the consumers are the losers.

Mass Effect 3's ending wasn't what I was expecting, that's for sure, but I wouldn't call it bad in terms of how it happens. The game presented players with a heavy decision to make with ramifications either way, It even foreshadowed the idea by bringing up the atomic bomb early on. That weapon is the center of a never ending debate on whether it was the right choice, or if finishing the war by traditional means would have been better, because by then, WWII was effectively over. I can see how a lot of people would see the ending moments as a cop out, but would it have been any better to choose the obvious utility of the superweapon that looked like the Death Star with an enormous cannon? In truth, while I am "fine" with the execution of the ending, I really feel you should have been given the choice to say to hell with it all and just fight the war by conventional means. The ideas behind the event are multi-layered, and open to debate when you consider the state Shepherd is in, and the ever present possibility of indoctrination around Reapers. So lets talk about what truly does has to be changed, because it is flat out wrong. Where the Normandy is during the ending. That makes no sense at all.

I can see how some of the mentioned plot points would be jarring for someone who'd played the first two games without the DLC. While the Liara thing is unavoidable for what they wanted to do in this game, they could have started off a bit smoother. Vega's lack of explanation does make sense, however. Who is James Vega? He's an underdeveloped reskin of Grunt. They clearly thought of that and then worked from there.

I think game trailers should stick to video footage from the games themselves. I liken them to movie trailers. While they might use a song licsensed just for the trailer, they rarely ever deviate from footage in the movie itself. There is the occasional off chance that shots from the trailer are ultimately cut, but 99% of the time trailers don't present anything extra.

People act like BW made Shepherd gay Its still your choice. The people claiming its out of character for him to suddenly change in the 3rd game are also out of touch with reality. There's countless instances of men and women coming out later in their lives, many of which are married with children. In a world that can be so cruel to a sexual preference, its not that surprising. Why do I hate ME3? Because its the last game in the trilogy :(

I'm not sure how extreme fantasy violence warrants a banning when realistic and believable scenarios about shooting real guns at human targets gets a pass. It's not like kids are going to go out there and start ripping each others' heads off. Granted, the MK violence has always been extreme, but I thought it was more comical than anything else.

Seems like a mixed bag. Overall, in motion, I think Reach is much better, but the stills kind of make me question some of the vehicle changes,
