[QUOTE="Trading_Zoner"]They offered a game system that wasn't a toy for kids, but rather an interactive entertainment device that everyone can enjoy. They expanded the market beyond the kid demographic basically.Rahnyc4
again. they didnt expand the market beyond age demographic. that was going to happen reguardless. the kids who grew up were going to get older with every inclusion of consoles, this credit doesnt go to sony, sorry!

This is true. Sega started to do that with the Genesis, lol. No pun intended.

It's not like Ninendo innovated all that much really, especialy software-wiseAdrianWerner

You know...Nintendo isn't even in the topic name, lol. I won't say that Nintendo has or hasn't done a lot of innovative things but I will say that this topic is about SONY and not NINTENDO.

So I really just don't get why people keep bringing Nintendo into this when their name isn't even in the topic name. And don't anybody say it's an indirect reference to Nintendo because that isn't necessarily true, either. I just thing we oughtta stay on course here. :)

Let me do the honor to finish this and believe me it will be finished...

And that's why I am proud to be A cow.

bad82man82

A cow you are indeed. But NONE of that is INNOVATION. Most of those games aren't even made by Sony. And all those storage specs aren't innovative, either. That's just an obvious thing to do. Give the consumer more than the competitors are giving. And the move from 2D to 3D? Um, I hate to break it to you but the Saturn was out almost 2 years before the PSX and even though it started out as a powerhouse for 2D games it still had 3D going before Sony did. Not to mention that is also another obvious thing to do right there. That isn't something that one company would just magically work into the industry. That is a shift in the industry that was bound to happen regardless.

Ok, I just want everyone to first know that I only read like the forst 5 or 6 posts and decided I didn't need to read anymore, lol. Let me see. Where should I start...

I'll start by responding to the guy who said something about playing all of the "amazing" first party games on the PSX and PS2. Take a seat ladies and gents. This one might be a little long here.

WHAT amazing first party games?!?! Are you seriously trying to say that there are more than 2 or 3 of them over the entire life cycle of the PSX and PS2 combined? Let's name them if we can. The PSX housed such cow-produced games like Gran Turismo :/, Wild Arms and Legend of Dragoon. The only one I would give you from that list is Legend of Dragoon. That was a good one. Now the PS2. We got a little more sofware support from "Cowland" and in more ways than just Japanese RPG's. They gave us such dairy products as: More Crap Turismo but with pretty graphics and of course the ever famous God of War. Now I won't contest God of War. Only a true MORON would do that, lol. However, I do think I should point out that it takes a lot of pages from the books of Ninja Gaiden, DMC, and all 3 of them take a many pages from that of Legacy of Kain. So, basically that a total of about 3 titles worthy of being called good from the land of the utter people over the cycle of 2 game systems.

Now let me beat some of the idiots to the punch and correct them before they say anything stupid. Don't try to tell me some garbage about Dark Cloud, Crash Bandicrap, Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper, or anything else that you think could prove what I just said wrong.

Now, I'll tell you why. You can't say that Ratchet and Clank are Sony games because it is a game series made by Insomniac Games. Some of you might say that Insomniac Games is a part of Sony. Insomniac is a part of Sony now. They were independent when they started. Remeber when they started with the Spyro games? Yeah, guess what happened around the PS2 beginning. Insomniac needed better financing and wound up a subsidiary of Sony. So, basically they lucked the he**out by gaining Insomniac on their side exclusively. The Crash and Jak games were made by Naughty Dog. They were originally independent as well. Why not Sly Cooper? Because it's just a stupid franchise IMHO, lol. The Dark Cloud games were made by Level 5. Sony just published them. Level 5 has never been a part of Sony. They are just "good friends" with each other. The biggest chunk of quality and uh..."innovative" games that have come out exclusivley on their consoles have all been 3rd-Party except for GOW.

But, wait...THERE'S MORE!!!

What about hardware? Nothing. There wasn't anything "innovative" about the PSX, PS2, or even the freshly milked PS3(f*ck Blu-Ray. That garbage is so uneccesary in the electronics world even on a general scale.) But, wait. I apologize. The PSP was innovative. Yeah, that was really innovative to make a movie format that could only be used on the PSP. And such great battery life to go with it, lol. Here's my impression of a PSP fanboy:

Ahem...

"Look at all the FEATURES and PRETTY GWAPHICS!!! XD"

Too bad it only got about 4 or 5 good games in all. :/

"But, Genesis! You forgot about da EYETOY!!! :P"

well i'm a casual gamer. and i play those games. so they are casual games.

games like WOW, God of War, HL2, Halo.

Does it helps you sleep at night calling yourself hardcore, when your realy not.

anasbouzid

First of all while I didn't like Gears Epic IS considered "hardcore" with Unreal Tournament. If you were talking about generically garbage shooters like Halo or Lost Planet I'd whole heatedly agree, but Unreal Tournament is a top tier PC franchise.

Finally, someone ELSE who understands the "not all that greatness" that is "Halo". Thank you so much for saying that. I can truly see you are a being of REAL intelligence.

Now as far as that moron who said some garbage about me sleeping better at night cause I seem to "think" I'm hardcore you can just shut it. Don't let this Level 1 fool you. I've been in the loop for years and you couldn't even begin to comprehend what I could say to you. Just because you are a casual gamer doesn't automatically make the games that you play "casual". You are provong yourself to be just as typical as the people that I was talking about before. How could you even think to say I'm not hardcore when you probably have never even been it yourself you frikkin' casual. I'll tell you what. I'm gonna pull a random idiot out of my hat. I'll wager you a few hundred bucks that it turns out to be you.

or.....you could pull out a mirror

what i understand about hardcore and not hardcore......is that there is no nationally recognized grade or formulized proof whether one is hardcore or not; it is just ones own understanding of what it means and their correlation to it.

i have had many systems and for i while i didnt back nintendo....and i always thought that the most hardcore fanboys where nintendos fanboys...you know, the ones that dressed up as mario and luigi the night before launch day.....they are as bad a huge starwars fanboys...

but again that is just my understanding.....

halo CE may not seem hardcore to some and may to others....but to tell you the truth i have played that game so many times so many ways....trying to do something different and interesting like trying to keep every member of my troop alive during a whole level once....which i almost did.....took for-fricken-ever....

anyways, i have also played games like gears....C&C...and HL1, 2 and CS (this is a whole nother story)

Ok, since you wanna try to call me an idiot I will merely tell you to read my posts to that idito Joel so as to prevent myself from having to rip you a** on, too. I'm not the one you want to challenge. I AM THE NEW GENESIS. And if you find yourself trying to challenge me by saying some typical moronic sh*t like that to me I will make sure that you see your end. You will be assimilated into my novel. You will become nothing more than fiction. No one will remeber you. No one will care if you ever existed. So, save yourself the trouble of even trying to call me stupid. Unless of course you want a semen sandwich like Joel.

That's all well and good and all. But, I probably won't ever become "casual". I'll go straight to "none". This I am sure of. As for others I can't say but I know what I will wind up doing. My days as a hardcore won't end until my fingers can't handle it anymore, LOL!

Besides, a true gamer is something in the heart. That ain't just somethin' that fades away with time or kids or "priorities". That is the kind of thing that forever is a part of you if it's real. A casual gamer is someone who considers playing video games as something they "do". A hardcore gamer is someone who thinks of playing video games as a piece of who they are. Anyone who follows on the footsteps of those things you mentioned was probably never a true gamer in the first place. They might have been so addicted that they couldn't put the controller down, lol. But, I can tell you that they weren't really as true of a gamer as they thought they were if they actually go "casual" as you say.

what are you sayin'?!?!?

i mean, gaming is a hobby!!! Family comes first, school or career, religion....friends too....waaaay before gaming....none of us where born in this life to live alternate lives in games...

Obviously, you DON'T know what I'm saying, lol. I don't see how you got that impression from what I said. I just meant that if a truly hardcore gamer has those things come into their life that doesn't mean they are going to forsake what they know and love. Of course things like that come first you jackass. What kind of moron do you take me for? You have misinterpreted my rebutle good sir. Please read correctly next time. :)
