I'd consider the Dreamcast a flop, but it was an amazing system with amazing games.

PS3 could be a steaming load of brown poop for all I care, if it plays FFXIII and MGS4 (read: the games I want) it will be worthwhile.

Goes right along with something I find myself having to tell people all the frikkin' time. If Sony didn't have FF or MGS exclusive they would have already been dead in the VG industry like they should've been. They have always had sh*tty hardware and only recently have they really been a pusher of decent software. They had no reason to enter the industry in the first place.They are reaping what they sowed. They came in and got on there Sorny bullsh*t taking exclusives, dishing out inferior hardware, making empty promises and hurting much more deserving competitors. And mostly just on some "revenge on Nintendo" crap. Nintendo didn;t seal the deal with them for a reason. They had already been in the industry for a while and knew that Sony was more than likely on BS. So, they rejected them. The rest of the industry should have done the same. Every great game that came out on the PSX could have been just fine on either the Saturn or the N64. Square put FFVII on the PSX instead of the N64 because of the cartridge bay. And they denied it for the Saturn because they were on stupid sh*t.

Plain and simply put the Playstation brand wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for Konami and Square. Great games from both indeed. But could've been just as good on other systems. I won't even begin to elaborate on that topic, though. That itself is a whole other thread.

That's all well and good and all. But, I probably won't ever become "casual". I'll go straight to "none". This I am sure of. As for others I can't say but I know what I will wind up doing. My days as a hardcore won't end until my fingers can't handle it anymore, LOL!

Besides, a true gamer is something in the heart. That ain't just somethin' that fades away with time or kids or "priorities". That is the kind of thing that forever is a part of you if it's real. A casual gamer is someone who considers playing video games as something they "do". A hardcore gamer is someone who thinks of playing video games as a piece of who they are. Anyone who follows on the footsteps of those things you mentioned was probably never a true gamer in the first place. They might have been so addicted that they couldn't put the controller down, lol. But, I can tell you that they weren't really as true of a gamer as they thought they were if they actually go "casual" as you say.
