[QUOTE="FelipeInside"][QUOTE="famicommander"]Windows operating systems are, by and large, terrible and only useful for gaming. I used XP but I was never particularly enamored with it it. It was a giant step up from Windows ME, at least. You could say I was excited to be rid of the head aches that came along with having a Windows ME desktop AND an extremely unreliable DSL connection back in the day. I switched to cable internet and XP at the same time and it was certainly a relief. I get excited every time the newest edition of Ubuntu/Xubuntu/Linux Mint/Fedora/PC-BSD is released, though. I was particularly excited about Ubuntu 6.06 Dapper Drake, which was my first expedition into the world of UNIX-like systems (not counting OS X, which I was very familiar with due to school). I remember the reason for trying it being Microsoft refusing to let me activate my copy of Windows on my PC after replacing a dead motherboard. Their customer service just gave me the run around and I got frustrated and hung up. So I tried Linux and have used it as my main OS ever since, while Windows has been relegated to a gaming-only partition which I only use when I cannot get a game to work via WINE/DosBox/Playonlinux/etc.

Is this a troll post? Windows OS are just for gaming? So the other 1000 applications available on it are what?

He's not trolling, come on look at all those businesses who use Windows, they've all went bankrupt because all they could do at work was play games and now millions of workers worldwide are just sitting at home playing games on their Windows machine, I mean lets face it they cannot do anything else what-so-ever on their machine because... it's Windows!

Fedora 4, I had an old laptop and XP wouldn't run very well so installed Fedora Core 4 and it just worked. Eyebrows were raised and curiosities grew as to why I had never used Linux before.
