MOAR TIME SPLITTERS!.... Yep, excited beyond words. Been waiting a long time for this. Show the fools what an actual creative FPS is like instead of more bland, boring, washed out brown modern shooters!
Yeah. And they suffered immensely for that. Also, nobody is defending Sony for doing that. Actually it is more surprising that Sony wised up and MS is doing the same idiotic mistakes without learning any lessons that consumers already taught people.
Here is another fact for you. The Wii had the highest trade in rate than the other two systems. Most people only pull the Wii out for a novelty when company are over. And Game Stop stopped taking Wii's and Wii games back in less than a year after the Wii U came out. Reason? Nobody wants them any more and they can't move them. For a console that "won" the console war last gen, that should be unheard of. Game Stop didn't stop taking PS2 games till about three or four years after the PS3's release. What the Wii won was a hollow, shallow, and not very supportive casual market. Not a gamer market. That shows with the backlash of the Wii U.
Can't argue handhelds, though. They are the best at those.
Yeah, you didn't read that whole thing, did you? I mentioned that it outsold the PS3 and 360. However, once the novelty wore off it sat around and collected dust more than actually being played and it had an outrageously high trade in rate compared to the other two systems. Also, it is unheard of how fast Gamestop stopped taking in used Wii games when the Wii U came out for a system that won the previous gen. That would be because they were not moving units or games AT ALL. Do you know how long it took them to stop accepting PS2 games? Years after the PS3 came out. About three or four to be exact. The Wii was not a traditional champion. It was a hollow shell of a victory, and it is showing with how the Wii U is selling.
That is nearing 30 years ago, dude. Nintendo should no longer get a free pass when it comes to their console hardware that has been a generation behind for maybe even over two generations.
And, yeah, while they are MASTERS at the handheld market with quality games from all different companies, they have always been awful at dealing with Third Parties for their consoles. The Wii was a piece of gimmicky, shovelware pushing garbage that did nothing but cater to only two group of people: the super casual "gamers" and the Nintendo fanbase with their only so often releases of Mario, Zelda, and Metroid a few times every couple years. Everyone got bored with it really damn quick, too. Might have sold the most units, but is also collected the most dust and had a rather high trade in rate once the novelty wore off with the cruddy motion controls.
The Wii U is even worse than that with their annoying tablet controller that is just as annoying to develop for... with the same exact problems above, still. They messed up big time on the Wii U. They are lucky they have the 3DS, or they would be screwed completely.
It is not all lost, though. Nintendo MIGHT eventually get their heads out of their asses and go back to the fundamentals that made them a powerhouse in the beginning when they abandon the Wii U and make their next console that is more on par with their competition and more attractive to third party support and with less gimmicky crap. You know, an actual game console.
Sony has a legitimate reason. It is impossible to play PS3 games without the idiotic Cell Processor that is rightfully being dropped from the PS4. It made game development a bitch, which ended up being a major reason the system failed early on.
