Probably in the endless stream of other games that exist that out number the games where you play as a female character probably 20/1 (and that is being generous.)
Also, nobody complains about playing as a male/female character in single player games (unless they are done that casts said gender in a negative light.) What people complain about is in multi-player games where developers give really lame excuses on "it takes time." :/
Final Fantasy XII is actually a pretty solid game. Good characters and story. The game play WAS different, and not always the best (MMO style can be slow and boring) but it was never bad enough to make me stop playing. I can also tell you this much. No other FF game that I have played is as open world or expansive as that one. I am hoping for an HD re-release for that game like what X got. Hope it gets it.
As for XIII.... That game is just bad. bad story, bad characters, and mediocre gameplay. Graphics were really nice, and Lightning was okay (till the really crappy third game...) but other than that, there is not much worth talking about in that game. XD
That would be all well and good... if a whole bunch of other "short" indie games didn't get scores that were also higher than 8 when nothing bad has been brought up. Looking at it objectively, since this is not a full-priced game anyway (it is $15), that means it is a WHOLE lot less offensive than a full price game with multiple problems getting a score that is higher than an 8 consistently. I can tell you this much after playing through some of Child of Light today... it is infinitely better than trash like Final Fantasy XIII in story, game play, and characters. Also, it does not have to be a ten. Most games are not a ten.
So, there is nothing bad in the game worth listing, the reviewer did nothing in the review but praise everything about the game, and talk about how great it all is, and then he gives it an 8/10???? That makes no sense. I have read reviews here where games had actual negatives listed and are complete crap that got a higher score. (Final Fantasy XIII has an 8.5!!!) I don't understand the criteria here. :/
He knows how to run a company, that is for sure. maybe he will be able to reign in the idiot executives who babble themselves into a six foot hole. He should do fine.
Er. The first game is probably better than all the other titles with MAYBE the exception being Birth by Sleep. KH1 has better gameplay mechanics that make the game more challenging than KH2 which tends to be extremely easy even on the supposed hard bosses. :/
