Given the fact that the Wii has very similar specs as the original Xbox it can most likely handle games that look as good as Ninja Gaiden or Chronicles of Riddick (Escape from Butcher Bay).

However that kind of graphical potential has not yet been tapped into on the Wii by the dev's yet, don't know really what their waiting for they've had the Wii dev kit for over a year and right now the Wii has the largest number in sales so, maybe Nintendo is simply not approving certain 3rd party titles due to certain genres or gore....who knows ? your guess is as good as mine...but the fact remains that even if they produced a game that looked as good as Xbox's Ninja Gaiden it still would be considered last gen quality so you can't really win either way with that fact looming over your head.

I did, i got sick of the majority of Wii games looking like japanese anime cartoons and wanted the most sophisticated and reliable hardware on the market, with alot of killer games and if anyone doubts the amount of hit PS3 titles look at my response on page 3 of my post " This is why the Wii will die " because their are alot of great PS3 titles and their is almost 170 titles set to be released this year alone on PS3.

So by all means if you need to use your Wii trade in value to knock down the PS3 price tag a little then i say trade up you won't be sorry and you'll never look back.

[QUOTE="Gh0st_Of_0nyx"]Another "Im not biased because I own all 3 consoles" thread  :roll:dhjohns

Even better than that, he owned all 3 at one time, but now owns the PS3 for its "pure hardware power". I bought my consoles for games.

Actually i never said i owned all 3 consoles at once, i said i've owned each one at one time or another and settled on PS3 as my console of choice, nor did i ever say i hated the Wii, actually if the Wii was able to play first person shooters with smoother controls i'd probably still own it, but when i did have it and i was playing such shooters like metroid prime 3 and medal of honor heroes 2, i realized that if you take the Wii-mote out of the sensor bar range then your character on screen spins around uncontrollably and at the same time you get shot up by other players on or offline and by the time the sensor bar recognizes the signal from the wii-mote again your already dead.

However that was merely one of a few reasons i chose to bail out on the wii, the others had to do with lack of hi-def and graphical muscle in the hardware and the once again majority of kiddie cartoony games in it's library thus far.

As for those who had the nerve to comment on the PS3 lacking great titles :

Resistance F.O.M., Heavenly Sword, Ratchet and Clank T.O.D, Unreal Tournament 3, Uncharted Drakes Fortune, MLB the 08, Motorstorm,

Gran Turismo 5, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Burnout Paradise, Devil May Cry 4, Assasins Creed, Dirt, Madden 08, Rainbow Six Vegas, Oblivion,

The Darkness, Tekken 5, Ridge Racer 7, Fight Night rd 3, Call of Duty 4, Warhawk, Ghost Recon A.W-2, The Orange Box

Now even though some the these games can be enjoyed on the 360 as well, some of them are PS3 exclusives and just all around high rated phenomenal games but only one of them is on the Wii and that's Madden, why ? because the Wii can't handle the graphics of the other titles, so it's forced to produce cute little cartoony mini games to cater to it's Wii-mote.

Therefore it will never be taken seriously by the hardcore gamers, and that's a fact that Wii fanboys will have to live with.

darkspineslayer

Yeah and the PS2 not only out sold it and blew it out of the water with it's games but is still selling to this day so what does that tell ya'.

By the way i am no newbie troll this is like my 5th gamespot i.d. over the years and as i said if the 360 was more reliable with it's hardware i'd probably have that and a PS3.

This was my post reply to " which console will die first? " but i thought it informative enough for a thread.

I have actually owned every next gen console at one time or another before finally settling on the PS3 for it's pure hardware power and reliability, since good games are and will always be on the horizon and there is virtually a mere handful of exclusives left between PS3 and 360 and i'd rather have the more reliable hardware with the infamous exclusives i can't live without such as God of War 3, Ratchet and Clank, Gran Turismo 5, Metal Gear and Killzone 2.

All 360 and PS3 choices and differences aside, the obvious downfall will absolutely be the Wii, ok, yeah it is currently outselling both 360 and PS3 right now, but sooner or later you have to have the titles to back up the longevity of the system or it will die, and let's be honest on any website or in any magazine how many high rated titles does the Wii really have after over a year and a half on the market 9 or 10 at the most and by high rated i mean 8 out of 10 or higher.

To my knowledge their is Metroid Prime 3, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Paper Mario, Zelda T.P., Rayman Raving Rabbids, No More Heroes, Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Warioware Smooth Moves, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Wii Sports.

Well their ya' go that's pretty much the best of the best offered on the Wii right now and the sad part is most of the titles listed here have been out almost a year and SSBB was the big one on the horizon and now it's here.

However if anyone does their homework and checks various magazines and websites they'll see how few Wii titles actually have descent reviews and how little is on the horizon for them.

While Sony just released the list of 2008 titles for PS3 which amounts to 167 titles to be released this year alone and i'm sure it's a similar amount for 360 but Nintendo which currently has a larger install base than both Sony and Microsoft doesn't have half of that number of titles coming out this year.

So here we go again Nintendo, it's gamecube all over again, not enough great titles or advanced hardware to support your console the only difference this time is more people will lose out once forced to sell or trade their Wii's because of lack of support due to inferior hardware and frustrating controls to program for and play certain games with.

Most fanboys will deny this or put up a list of titles they think is more or better or coming soon or even a lack luster list of PS3 titles but the fact is the Wii is just not a hardcore gaming console, it's a nice little inexpensive video game unit that currently sells for the curiosity of the new control scheme and cheapest price of the 3 consoles on the market, but that's really it and with nothing else to offer to compete with the other monsterous titles coming out on 360 or PS3 such as Gears of War 2 or God of War 3, the Wii will dwindle off slowly and quietly, whether you want to admit it or not.
