i think i made this thread because i was playing virtual console and thought to myself? why did i pay $200's for a wii when im playing virtual console more than the wii ps3 and xbox 360 combined, so i hooked up all my old systems bought some old games and sold my xbox 360, havent touched my ps3 or wii yet
but graphics dont really change that much each generation, and the newer features, online isnt even perfected yet...the want to be on the cutting edge cuts your wallet in half lol so your going to pay out the butt for a small upgrade when you can pay just a little bit more when its used and cheaper?[QUOTE="PSNIDCiocio313"][QUOTE="lundy86_4"]
Any number of reasons, such as, newer features, online integration (this gen), interest in the games, improved graphics, the want to be on the cutting edge etc.

Theres a big difference between Ps2 graphics compared to PS3 or xbox to 360
the ps2's graphics wasnt even better than dreamcasts graphics and dreamcast came out before ps2, i still play dreamcast till this daybut graphics dont really change that much each generation, and the newer features, online isnt even perfected yet...the want to be on the cutting edge cuts your wallet in half lol so your going to pay out the butt for a small upgrade when you can pay just a little bit more when its used and cheaper?[QUOTE="PSNIDCiocio313"][QUOTE="lundy86_4"]

The graphics jump was huge from last generation to the current one :? Chances are the next won't be as big, but regardless, I don't doubt that it is likely a factor for many. Online also took a huge leap forward in the console realm in this generation.
You major problem is you seem to be applying your beliefs to a general understanding of a consumers motivation, as seems to be implied by "the want to be on the cutting edge cuts your wallet in half lol so your going to pay out the butt for a small upgrade when you can pay just a little bit more when its used and cheaper?". You're implying that people have trouble affording it, when we do not know.
the graphics jump wasnt really a large jump, because ps2's graphics was worse than dreamcasts graphics. i still play dreamcast till this day, thats how good it held up...
no i dont care how people spend there money, if they want to waste money then let them but the point is system upgrades each generation doesnt warrant a overpriced pricing just because its new tech...the ps3 and xbox was 600 to 400 dollars when they launched, now we're halfway through the generation and you can buy a new ps3 and xbox 360 for half or less than half of that price it launched at, im just saying people overhype newer launch systems when theres games to play on older systems, thats what im trying to say...and you can buy all those ps3 and xbox games for less than $20's the same amount a newer game costs
id rather save money and finish games i havent finished with my old crusty snes and n64New tech is shiney and has a "wow" factor to it that old crusty, tired hardware lacks.

actually wii has the best gameplay on and offline
because its hardware is geared towards gaming and not multiple entertainment mediums
less computing power towards certain things is more computer power towards gaming

Technically wouldn't that mean gaming has gotten progressively worse since the Atari?
Can you give me examples of the games that have this great gameplay that you speak of? Also how are those games so much better than ps3/x360 games in terms of gameplay? because they run faster, got more frames per second, because its hardware isnt limited by pushing high end graphics and bluray player/internet call of duty on the wii runs faster and smoother than call of duty on ps3/xbox because it has more frames per second and it uses the wii zapper all games on wii has more frames per second and doesnt drop in frame rate when the action heats up like on ps3/xbox why because it utilizes more more power for gaming, instead of graphicsactually wii has the best gameplay on and offline
