well I do own both consoles, but I only own about 13 3DO games, while I own 88 Saturn games, so my opinion on 3DO shouldn't be taken 100% seriously, as I simply don't have enough games for it but I will say the Saturn is the better system imo , nothing wrong with the 3DO , but the Saturn is just the better system .

that said the 3DO is certainly a system worth looking at.

Darkman2007

Thanks.. i want to buy both.. but also want to choose the one to pick first, maybe this year

it really just depends on what genres you like.

For example. the 3Do has more variety in genre than the Saturn for it's games. However the Saturn has a higher Genre-Quality ratio while some genres while more on the 3DO, are not very good games. While 3DO games are not talked about, it has more 8/10+ games then saturn, but the Satrun has many 7/10+ games and more 9/10+ games but not very many. Also some games that use acessories on the 3DO are more common say the saturn. 3DO however, severely lck in the fighting or Arcade department which is one of the Saturns stronger feats while the 3DO tries to even things out. However, Saturn's library of games is significantly bigger then the 3DO's as the 3DO has less games to choose from, however as I said the 3DO has(tries) more variety while the Saturn has less of a variety but because of it there are some pretty good games of specific genres in the Saturns library of games.

Just last week we reported that Gears of War 3 was the fastest-selling game of 2011 in its first week of release. Just six days later, there's a new record-holder in the market — and it's a worldwide hit.

As many predicted, the latest installment of Electronic Arts' soccer (ahem, football) franchise, FIFA 12, has supplanted Gears of War 3 as the highest-selling game of 2011 in its first week of release. Selling over 3.2 million units between September 27 and October 2, the game also set a record for the highest first-week sales of any sports game ever made.

"FIFA 12 is a stunning achievement by our team at EA Canada," said Andrew Wilson, Executive Vice-President of EA Sports in an official statement. "The massive FIFA online community has overwhelmingly connected to the new live services in the game, including EA SPORTS Football Club, and we intend to keep them engaged all season long as FIFA 12 follows the heartbeat of the football season."

In its statement about the FIFA 12 launch, EA also noted that the latest installment's sales are up 23 percent over FIFA 11, and that FIFA 12 for the iPhone and iPad has sold 879,000 units so far. The statement goes on to report that October 1 also set a record for online gaming with EA Sports titles, as more than 10 million players competed in EA Sports sessions (including nearly eight million FIFA 12 matches).

A sports game beat gears of War 3?

Now if only this game would have released when MW3 came out. See this is proof that Fifa 12 has some sort of magical powers or something. A Fifa has never sold this fast or anywhere near for a very long time.

This is completely unnecessary for a video game console.

Honestly, it seems like only Nintendo actually remembers what video game consoles are supposed to be.

peterw007

Yes, so the Wii has an internet browser. FOR GAMING Yes, the Wii has News feeds. FOR GAMING. Yes, the WII has netflix. FORGAMING. The only System with SD support. The list goes on. Don;t let Nintendo and the crap load of FPS games ont the other 2 fool you, they forgot as well. Oh and 3D.

I'm very hyped about it but what the hell is up with the title? Infinite Undiscovery has a fantastic title after this...

peterw007

In Japan the title sounds perfectly normal.

I suspect the localization team (if this gets localized) will fix the title into something more comphrensible.

Even japan said it's wacky and makes no sence. LINK

As long as it works I'd buy it. One thing you might want to be aware of is that the internal memory on my Saturn died after a couple years and thus I couldn't save my progress. I had to leave my system on for a week to take down Dragon Force.

Darkman2007

That's crazy. Does the Saturn have memory cards that allow you to save games? Or is it entirely reliant on the internal memory for saving games?

the Saturn does have memory cards, and they have insane amounts of space (for the time) , I have one , and I have 88 Saturn games, and there is still 1/4 of the card left. the only games that really require internal saving, are some early games, as well as games that need the RAM cart (since you can't have a save cartrige and a RAM cart at the same time) , though this list of games is quite small.

The Satrun was designed like that. To handle large memory storage. In return they lowered a few of the systems capabilities. one most noticeaby, the ability for good looking 3D games (By that times standards)

Wich one is better to buy first? I've played saturn a lot when i was between 13 and 15 years old, is one of the legacy plattaforms i will buy, but i'm also want to buy a 3do too. The 3do i just saw by videos, never played.

thunderspider2

Well the 3DO has more and better high quality exclusives than the Saturn. 3DO has more AA titles than the Saturn while the Saturn has more AAA but it's overshadowed by A and lower games. 3DO also has a better variety in its games and the acessories at the time were not priced as high as the Saturns.

I still have to play, but which version should I pick? I heard the GBA version is easier.

KillerJuan77

GBA version is cut though so badly that it's embarassing. Jaguar is best followed by the PS1 version which has slighty better sounding music and an animated cutscenes but has terribly worse collision issues that the Jaguar version/ Both are hard as heck though.

Any version, but do you think it really has lost it's magic after 13 years?

It certainly seems so at times...

GreekGameManiac

that implies it HAD magic. Nothing other than 3D transition was impressive in that game.
