You wouldn't see a difference on a 40' screen. only if you are really really close, which is stupid for a 40' screen. (And I mean REALLY close).

4K is a resolution that only offers benefit on giant screens.

Most TV transmissions are made with poor resolution and/or bitrate.

Most channels use 1080i or 720p.

We have not explored the best quality 1080p has to offer.

4K is just an attempt to sell more stuff. It's not necessary yet.

As some said, for 4K (which is a misleading name) to be noticeable, you would have to buy a giant TV, and still, it depends on the video source.

@Microsteve They are made on PC, but with very specific specs in mind. To program for the PC market they need to make many optimizations to achieve good performance on different scenarios, cause people have many different machines, with many different hardware and sofware.

It's not that easy.
