@chipwithdip The thing is, Revelations is a simpler game compared to other console games. What worked on a portable, is less impressive on a console/pc. The standards are higher.

@NordWinter She wasn't talking about gameplay, but about atmosphere. This game really feels like RE without sacrificing gameplay.

About the backtracking, it was criticized on RE1. But still, it was handled better in RE1 than this one. The backtracking created certain atmosphere while in this one, most of the time it feels stupid, like they just wanted to extend the game.
