Far Cry 2 was boring and generic. Far Cry 1 feels a little dated, but if you played Crysis 1, it's almos the same style and gameplay (but no special suit)
But, overall, I'm not impressed.. It's an entertaining game, an okay game, but shallow. So, what was all the hype about? Am I talking to soon, perhaps? I'll keep playing of course, hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised later into the game...

The hype being that the legendary FPS developer iD, using a new engine, was making this....what could go wrong??? ...wait...WHAT?!? The new engine looks good, but the "unique textures" stuff was just stupid. It made the game unnecessarily huge. Some textures could easily be repeated and utilized in clever ways. And the story just doesn't do the animations nor the setting any favors.
They are following George Lucas steps.... Milking Star Wars until everyone looses their interests. If they had a good managment, which I thought they did when they started rebooting "Monkey Island", we would have Grim Fandango, Full Throttle, Monkey Island and many other IPS brought back.

The past two AC games have weird optimization issues. Framerate jumps from 50-60fps constantly. Great games though. But imho, from what I've played so far, Arkham City is the better game. I think he used AC as "Arkham City" and not as "Assassin's Creed". =)
Get Batman AC. Whenever I play L.A. Noire I get the feeling I'm enjoying for what it could have been, and not for what it is. The technology is great, but the acting is too fake to be taken seriously (The suspects expressions). The main character is very unlikable and his aggressiveness in interrogatory is sometimes ridiculous and unexpected. Batman AC has a great story, great combat and graphics. The actual open city was kind of a turn off to me, I prefer the corridors of Arkham Asylum... I just think this game didn't need that. It felt more like the creators were just trying to follow the fashion of big open cities from most games nowadays... But everything else is an improvement, in my opinion.
Silent Hill 2 has a really amazing story.... Grim Fandango Psychonauts Mafia 1 and 2 Max Payne 1 and 2. Those games are really immersive and have great storylines.
Why do graphics mean so much to you? Silent Hill 2's graphics have held up pretty darn well, and considering you played one of the weakes SH games (Homecoming) you really owe it to yourself to experience what's arguably the best game in the series, if you haven't played it already. Also, check out Fatal Frame 1 and 2 (console only, but excellent horror games.) if you haven't yet. 3 was pretty "meh."

Actually, if you think that Silent Hill 2 looks good wait 'til you see Silent Hill 3, it even looks better than many recent games.
Yeah, SH3 looks fantastic, but SH2 is just a better game...
