Edit Again -

I could buy the logitech Z5500 5.1 surround sound for my PC and configure it to work with my games and such. Though, I would also need a sound card to produce any sound that isn't crap (I am still not sure how I lost my other sound card).

Argg wish there was an edit button -

I like a BIG subwoofer, I always am a bass fan for some reason, be it my games, music, TV, etc. I think bass just adds that umph to any occassion where explosions and gunfire is going off :).

Using Xbox, PS3, Blu-ray, TV etc.

I can't really find a good 2.1 with a sub that isn't insanely overpriced.

I am deciding if it would be better to just get a 2.1 speaker box with a nice sub, or a 5.1 box (the all in one packages).

The room is 13x10. Parents think that a 5.1 surround sound will be louder than a plain old 2.1, but I can easily convince them otherwise. Is it worth just to get a sub and a center speaker to replace the stereo speakers TVs come with, or would it be wiser to buy a 5.1?

Not spending over 350 for a set of speakers.

Oh yeah... Lets all pull out our money and a lighter... and well you know..

Still a COMPLETE waste of money.

OH! And what I find funny.. On the 3Dmark website someone with a 3870x2 scored a 32601...

SinfulPotato

Funny? Funny how that card does worse in every game? But scores much higher on 3d mark? The fact that 3D mark has some connection to ATI? Funny, isn't it :)?

my mobo is X38, so no SLI.

i dont understand what you mean by "Well depending where you bought your card, you might have to ebay it if it came with a 30 day non refundable return on Newegg (if bought from there)."

i DID buy the card from Newegg.

Roland123_basic

Can't return the card for a refund.

You realize benchmarks are for epeen boasting, especially if you have ATI since ATI is PART OF 3d mark!!!

I'd rather see the FPS people get, not the benchmarks.

Domobomb

Uhm... Did you even click the link?

Lol, thought it was going to be another 3d mark test.

Impressive, makes me wish I didn't just buy an 8800gt :P.

You won't be getting insane FPS with a single 8800gt, sign up for EVGAs step up program (they take your card, and the price you paid for it and sell you a new card for that price off.)

what kind of performance increase can i expect if i went from a single 8800GT to say a 9800GTX? i dont know if i have the money to spring for a 9800GX2, they are hella expensive. or possibly just wait for the new ATI 4870s to come out, and sell my 8800GT and buy one of those?

Buy a 9800gx2, or a new 260 (hold off on the 280).

Your system is performing good.

Well depending where you bought your card, you might have to ebay it if it came with a 30 day non refundable return on Newegg (if bought from there). Or you can SLI 2 8800GTs and get better performance than a single 9800GX2 (which is pretty much an sli 8800gt, and more expensive to boot!).

If your Mobo support SLI, buy another 8800gt, it will help with high resolutions.

Only time the 9800GX2 is worth it is if you don't have SLI on your mobo and don't want to spend the money to upgrade. Or you could wait for the 260 to come out (I think June 26th), and that will also work since it comes with some nice features.

Tell us what you want to have in your computer, we can't tell you the mobo you need if you don't us your processor, ram, do you plan on SLI? Crossfire (ATI VERSION OF SLI!), etc.
